WhistlePig Old World Cask Finish Rye 12 Year
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Vermont), USA
Reviewed February 25, 2021 (edited May 13, 2021)Amazing, delectable nose with prunes, figs, black berry jam, red wine, honey, toffee, caramel, orange peel, baking spices and a hint of spearmint. The buttery, mellow palate is very balanced with none of the notes outshining any other, and I think every note from the nose is there plus some menthol and mild tobacco. The finish is medium length with smoldering spices and mint. -
Woodinville Straight Bourbon Port Cask Finish
Bourbon — Washington, USA
Reviewed February 23, 2021 (edited March 1, 2022)If you like Port, you may like this. It’s a little hot and uneven as the Port dominates the bourbon. -
Nose is subtle but delightful with malt, honey, berries, peaches, citrus, light spices and peat smoke. Palate has a milky consistency and displays balance between all the notes of the nose plus almond, toffee and chocolate notes. Finish is short, a little warming and disappointing given the great notes on the palate. I can’t help but imagine how awesome this would be at a higher proof.

Quite viscous and sweet on the palate with vanilla, dried fruits and a little pepper, heat from the proof builds up to a nice hug by the end of a dram. Finish is medium length with some sweetness and pepper. -
Faultline Blended Scotch Whisky
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed February 14, 2021 (edited January 22, 2022)Initial impressions: Creamy, rich, vanilla, honey, caramel, light peat, short finish. Reminds me a wee bit of Kilchoman Machir Bay. -
Benriach The Smoky Twelve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed February 14, 2021 (edited April 14, 2021)Neck pour. Sweet, vanilla, caramel, syrupy fruit, light peat smoke, shorter finish. Tasty. Dry glass gives a better impression than the initial taste of the whiskey itself with dried apricots, raisin, plums, a hint of peat and baking spices. -

Larceny Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 29, 2021 (edited February 21, 2021)Retaste: Bottle at 7/8th, open 2 years. Cinnamon note I tasted initially has really mellowed, or my palate has evolved, or both. I get more of a cinnamon toast crunch note on the nose plus gingerbread and some orange marmalade. Cinnamon is still there on the palate, caramel is more prominent now, there’s also vanilla and gingerbread. A tiny bit of heat on the finish which is medium length with toasty vanilla and caramel.
