Aberlour Casg Annamh (Batch 4)
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed April 26, 2021 (edited April 29, 2021)Honey graham cracker, apples, pears, light spices, vanilla and sherry notes on the nose, palate and medium length finish. Nice oily mouthfeel. Super easy to drink at 48 ABV. Really nice whiskey. -
Found a “Classic Malts Collection” 3 pack at one of my favorite haunts for $39.99, consisting of 200ml bottles of Talisker 10, Caol Ila 12, and Clynelish 14. I can’t add anything beyond what numerous other fine reviews here have said. The nose is very much of the sea with brine and seaweed notes, there is also fresh peat, light vanilla and citrus notes, fantastic oily, coating and rich palate with brine, smoked meats, peat and citrus notes, the medium length finish is slightly peppery.

Clynelish 14 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 24, 2021 (edited January 8, 2022)Found a “Classic Malts Collection” 3 pack at one of my favorite haunts for $39.99, consisting of 200ml bottles of Talisker 10, Caol Ila 12, and Clynelish 14. Clynelish is the one I hadn’t tasted before. I can’t add anything beyond what numerous other fine reviews here have said. It’s fruity and sweet with honey and malt, has a great waxy, oily mouth feel, with stone fruits, honey, malt, a little pepper and peat smoke, the medium length finish is slightly peppery. I’ll liked it better with a couple drops of water as it tamed any rough edges. -

G4 Reposado Tequila
Tequila Reposado — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed April 22, 2021 (edited April 28, 2021)Nose: Roasted agave, caramel, hints of green peppers and flashes of orange peel. Palate: Sweet, somewhat creamy, vanilla and a little pepper. Finish: Shortish with vanilla and mild pepper.35.0 USD per Bottle -
Nose: Closed off at first. After 5 minutes I get nutty sherry, malt, light spices, complex yet subtle with many other notes I cannot define. Palate: Silky, coating, malty, berries, sherry, biscuits, citrus, mixed nuts, vanilla, caramel, honey and barrel spices. Finish: Long, malty, cereal grains, sherry and spices. Near perfection in a bottle. I seriously think, if I could afford it, I could be content drinking only this the rest of my life.

Singleton of Auchroisk 1985
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed April 16, 2021 (edited April 28, 2021)Found this at the same little out of the way liquor store where I found the 1983 edition, tucked in between two other 1983’s. On the label it says was distilled in 1985 and bottled in 1997, 10 years (bad math ?), 43% abv. Not much info available about this bottling. I am now 3/4 through this bottle and I must say I like it better than the 1983. I get orchard fruit, general sweetness, sherry, quite a bit of oak, but more pleasant than the 1983, some honey and chai tea on the nose; The palate is silky, sweet and rich with subdued sherry nuttiness, vanilla, barrel spices and hints of chocolate; The finish is long and very pleasant with some raisin, spice, vanilla and chai tea notes. -
A unique mash bill of 80% malted barley / 20% rye. Bottled at cask strength of 55 ABV. Batch numero uno. Smells and tastes a bit like a highland scotch finished in rye cask. Mild and light, semi-sweet, slightly malty, fruity and spicy, hints of vanilla and cinnamon. Water brings out more rye spice and heat.
