Tastes

The fruitiness is a bit more than I prefer, but extra points for the cool bottle.

Light, but a little more flavor than other similarly priced Irish whiskies. This may be due to being matured in bourbon casks.

Inoffensive with not much flavor, I'm torn between calling this smooth or bland. The rum cask finish expression is a little better than this. But it's good for the price.

An incredible value, if I could only afford a sub-$20 bourbon then this would be the one. It's also surprisingly drinkable for being 100 proof. Though I don't see this as something I'll keep on hand after I finish this bottle, it gets a strong bookmark for future budget straight bourbon consideration. I'd say this rivals Wild Turkey 101 (albeit at an even lower price point) for a higher proof budget bourbon.

The lingering finish tastes off to me, outweighing anything positive or neutral I have to say about the drinkability. This was my first foray into budget bourbon, and my least favorite so far.

I typically drink single malts (when I'm not drinking bourbon), but this is the best Scotch blend I've had. Very drinkable, and slightly smokey.
