Tastes

Sweet vanilla aroma. Vanilla and leather give it a nice opening to the flavor profile. The sherry notes enter at the midpoint and carry through to the finish which is long and smooth. Nice flavor profile. I’d have given another point or 2 for a creamier mouthfeel.

Smoky aroma pervades into the initial flavors. The smoke and peat drown out the middle. There is some honey and vanilla in the finish. I would rate it higher if these flavors were a little more pronounced throughout.

The initial aroma is fruity like strawberries. The taste begins creamy then quickly becomes cinnamon. The finish is medium in length and transitions to pepper at the end.

A nutty aroma. Cherries, nuts and sweet pastries head the palate. There is some spice in the finish. The finish is long and pleasant. Great after dinner scotch! Has a permanent place in my home bar.

Lemon zest and grassy notes greet the nose. Butterscotch and vanilla start the flavor profile but are quickly balanced by the spicy rye bite. The finish is long and hot with just a hint of banana at the end. Overall, a pretty nice whisky if you like some spice/burn.

Vanilla and frosting on the nose. Butterscotch and cinnamon greet the palate. The cinnamon lingers through the finish as the tastes fade into apple and eventually chocolate. A well balanced whisky. Not sure if I’d pay $70 for it, but nice in the sample pack.

The nose is oak and apple. Butterscotch and vanilla rush to the front of the palate followed by a smoky, mildly spiced middle that lingers into the end. A nice long finish of marshmallows toasted on a campfire with that perfect amount of char. Taste is overall fairly sweet. Nice after dinner bourbon.

An orange aroma starts it off. The taste shifts into a mixed berry pie with notes of vanilla. There is a bit of spice that starts mid palate and extends through the finish which is medium in length. Very pleasant.

The nose is smoky with hints of sherry and an alcohol burn. Dark chocolate and sherry start the complex parade of flavors with a little peat smoke to balance it out. The taste fades into a rich coffee finish that is long and satisfying. Perfect Autumn scotch!
