Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 13, 2020 (edited January 5, 2021)Absolutely the bourbon that got me into bourbon. Tastes like liquid sunshine and honey. Light spice and honey on the nose, orange zest and honey on the mid note, wood vanilla sweet and honey on the finish. I wish it was available as it used to be in the early 2000s -
Willett Pot Still Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 4, 2020 (edited January 24, 2021)A caramel apple coated in caramel corn on the nose, mouth coating palate with most of the same flavors, and a medium long finish that’s very strong for over 90 seconds. -
Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 3, 2020 (edited December 8, 2020)Opened a bunker bottle I bought in 2015. Balanced caramel, maple sugar, and spice. Lingering finish with honey vanilla sugar, lasting over a minute and a half. Nose is sweet potato and spice, with a hint of leather. Buffalo Trace, please make more! I haven’t seen it in my local stores in years! -
Johnnie Walker Green Label 15 Year
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed July 28, 2020 (edited September 1, 2021)Apple juice, umami, a little smoke, peat. Finish is lingering for a blend, about 90 sec to 2 min. Phenomenal with a decent aged cheddar, pretty good on its own. So glad green label is readily available again. -
This one tastes like it would be a good barbecue whiskey. Low and slow cooked beef and pork, a few sweet side dishes, and good friends. Approachable, but not boring. Caramel, sweet, spice, citrus, and rich smoke. I might have to mix a black manhattan with multiple bitters for this one. Lingering finish straight out of the bottle.

Four Roses Small Batch Select Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 30, 2020 (edited July 13, 2020)Cherries, leather, other stone fruits, Wood vanilla, and mouth-coating richness. A lot more complex than 4Roses Small Batch or yellow label, maybe a touch more interesting than single barrel. Wonderful once in a while. It would spoil me if I had this as a daily tot. -
Bulleit Bourbon Blenders' Select No. 001
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed March 31, 2020 (edited June 15, 2020)Has the Bulleit house feel and rye/spice forward palate, but more flavorful and a coating mouthfeel. Nice neat, and even better on the rocks to tame the 50% abv. More fruity than the current Bulleit Frontier whiskey, IMHO. Glad this is a spring whiskey, it’s one of the bright spots while sheltering in place. $40-45 for a fifth is not terrible, but Four Roses Single Barrel is a worthy competitor at that price.
