Amber. Lots of cinnamon. Oaky caramel. Vanilla. Cherry. Very round, buttery, rich and smooth. Long finish with no bitterness. Slight waxiness. Pretty hot. Great bourbon at $39. One of my favorites for a while but unfortunately over time the palate has lost complexity and it’s become a bit one dimensional. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. Bad - Multiple flaws. 4. Below average - Not bad, but many things I'd rather have. 5. Good - Just average. 6. Very Good - Better than average. 7. Great - Well above average. 8. Excellent - In a league of its own. 9. Incredible - An all-time favorite. 10. Perfect39.0 USD per Bottle

Knob Creek 9 Year Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed June 7, 2020 (edited July 2, 2020)Golden. Cherry, caramel, spices, vanilla, honey. Hints of oatmeal in the background. Some other high strung floral and fruit notes I can’t quite place coming through the base notes. After time the bottle becomes pretty one dimensional and flat. Not bad, but the exciting notes kinda fade. Palate is round and confirms the nose. Some slight soapy tastes. Medium finish. Heard the 120+ proof KC is the one to go with. This one is a tad lacking. I still have a full bottle, so this rating will likely change. 6. Nose is very classic. Maple syrup and black pepper bring bacon to the nose. Carmel in the forefront too. Hints of cherry, apple, vanilla and chocolate. Palate is round and rich but finish is unfortunately short. Chocolate and maple syrup linger a little. Very smooth for 110 proof, but I was hoping for more bite. Delicious sweet desert bourbon that I will keep stocked and would recommend. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. High West A Midwinter Night's Dram Act 7 (All Scenes)
Rye — (bottled in) Utah, USA
Reviewed May 19, 2020 (edited July 1, 2022)This is a very interesting rye. Dark fruits and roasted nuts along with mint and other herbal and floral notes. Palate is very smooth and taste confirms the nose. Round and medium finish. Definitely understand why some say it tastes like Christmas... I can see why this is a great rye, I'm just not a huge fan of rye. I'm giving it a 3.5 given it's complexity. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. Nose is very classic bourbon and a perfect Buffalo Trace signature. Green apples, dried apricot and banana, dark fruits, cherries, caramel and maple syrup. On the palate, the initial heat gives way to complex and round mouthfeel. I get the cherries and the fruits I’m used to with Eagle Rare. Heat lasts for a medium finish. It’s like Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare has a baby and turned the heat up to 11. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3.
