Rested 10 minutes. Served neat in a Glencairn. Nose - raisin is the first thing I get, caramel, black licorice, brioche Palette - super silky on the palette, toasted oak, caramel, dark chocolate Finish - a comforting heat like you’re sitting next to a fireplace in an old home on a cold winter night. lasts for 30 seconds or so and then calmly leaves. A slight hint of black pepper. What a solid pour. Kind of hard for me to nail it down but it feels well rounded. Not necessarily in taste, but just in the whole experience. It feels complete. More toasted body than anything spicy, but I think that’s the beauty of this one. It’s a warm hug on a cold night kind of thing.

Rested 15 minutes. Served neat in a Glencairn. Nose - vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, sugar Palette - vanilla, dark chocolate, baking slices. Pretty smooth and mellow for a higher proof. Finish - more dark chocolate and vanilla, gram cracker. Heat comes in on the backend after the flavors disappear. Once the heat leaves, some pound cake comes in with some vanilla. A nice desert taste. I went back and forth on this rating quite a bit. A little sweet for me, but I think this one is definitely going to be a desert bourbon for me personally. It brings a lot for the lower price.45.0 USD per Bottle

Old Grand-Dad 114 Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 7, 2019 (edited November 6, 2019)Rested 15 minutes. Served neat in a Glencairn. Nose - fruity, vanilla, caramel, a little ethanol. Definitely reminds me of a grandparents house. Palette - woah, a lot more heat than I thought. Rye bomb for sure. Cherry, toasted oak. More rye. Finish - fruity, very spicy, black pepper. The heat sits with you for quite a while. Overall I really like this one. Too much heat for 114 proof but a great pour for $35/bottle.35.0 USD per Bottle -
Rested 15 minutes. Served neat in a Glencairn. Nose - a little spicy. baking spices, black pepper, vanilla, cinnamon. Palette - a little heat. Black pepper, cherry. Something else I can’t quite recognize but I really like it. Finish - toasted oak, black licorice, the aftertaste of caramel and gingerbread. Love this bourbon. Very smooth with a particular taste. Love the higher proof. Would rate it a little higher, but I think the $60 price brings it back down.60.0 USD per Bottle

Rested 10 minutes and sampled neat in a Glencairn. Nose: caramel, honey, butterscotch Palette: silky and smooth mouthfeel, vanilla, toffee. Finish: toasted oak, honey, cherry? The OBSV recipe is very nice here. A little less punchy than normal higher rye bourbons. Definitely on the lighter side. Would buy again.42.0 USD per Bottle
