Tastes

Smells like a campfire with something sweet underneath. Smooth, short finish. I was surprised, yet again, by Ardbeg offerings. Nice to sip, but don’t think I could have too much of it versus something less in your face.

Nice medium smoke on the nose. Short, smooth finish. Understandably a little rougher than Wee Beastie. Probably down to age.

Not too smoky on the nose. Some iodine and beneath that something sweet like white wine or white grapes. Short finish with a little warmth.

Great nose! Under the smoke there is hint of sweet. Not overpowering at all. Almost a sweet smoke on short finish; maybe too short? Not spicy. Overall, a pleasant sipper.

Slight smoke on the nose. Hint of something sweet like caramel. Nose opens after first sip. Couldn’t place the sweet on the chew and finish until I read sherry cask maturation. Much better than I expected. Not too heavy on smoke or spice which I had expected.

Medium nose and legs. Spicy palate with warm finish. For me, the warmth was slightly overpowering. Glad I tried it as I was really curious.

Smoke and peat, but not overpowering. Spicy chew with medium finish. Better than what I was expecting. Liked it more than HP 12

Warm vanilla. Oak. Caramel. A little spiciness with medium finish.

Nice nose. Some fruit and wood. Smooth with short-medium warm finish. It’s on my re-buy list.

Inviting peat nose and mouthfeel. Surprisingly the finish was cooler than I expected. I decided not to cut it because I like sipping this one as is. It's a decent way to try an Islay blend, but one can also get others that are not blended from Islay for a similar price. It's worth a try if you like trying out the different offerings known for peat.
