Strong flavor, but a good whiskey. Better as you drink it. Nose is classic, malty, distillery funky smell. It tastes like an "experienced" whiskey. The 100% malt mash hits you in the freaking face, this ain't no boy's whiskey. It's smooth despite the heavy malt, but definitely not sweet, warm, or fruity. Fairly oily mouth feel, but as the tags will show, it's oak, harsh, and hot. Surprisingly good without ice though.

Cornbread with butter and syrup on the nose, a sloght funk like cheesecake. Hot to start, peppery from the high proof. Second sip mellows out after the intial shock significantly and yields a delicate warn sweetness with high wheat notes and malty, full undertones. Not a deep flavor like leather or oak, but more of a pleasant sherry and warm bread taste. Smooth, oily, and easy finish. Definitely a premium whiskey. Redish tint and a fancy flavor.

Castle & Key Small Batch, 2024 Batch 1
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed July 27, 2024 (edited July 28, 2024)A harsh nose but with charred oak and burnt corn after notes. Ititial ethenol hit but a sweeter finish. First taste is sweet, higher notes of table sugar, apricot, cherry, corn syrup, with a hint of heat. Moouthfeel us watery, not oily. The 100 proof shines through with some heat. Goes down smooth with a hot flash aftwrords of very aromatic, almost herbal flavors. Like anise. While not a very full or heavy tasting whiskey, it is still complex. Ice is probably recommended. For being aged 4 years it is not as smooth or leathert as one would hope. Tastes a little young and green. But by no means a bad pour.Schnucks Cottleville -
