Tastes

As good as many bottles twice the price. It’s one of only a few bottles I actually bought more than once.

I’m pretty neutral on this one. Sweat, smooth, rich, but also uninteresting.

Smooth (I generally like Wild Turkey profile). This adds a little sweetness to what I consider a well balanced bourbon. There are not flavors that jump out to me, but at the same time it’s not bland.

On the earthy oaky side. I don’t favor this profile, because I found it richer without sweetness and I favor that. Not bad, but just not in my range of enjoyment. Worked best for me with some ginger beer, but not neat or in old fashioned. 2012 vintage.

I want to like this more than I did. I got a sample from a friend, so my review comes without having invested any of my own money in the bottle. Smooth, a little oaky, not overly sweet, not rich. Definitely try if you can, but I would have been disappointed with paying north of $100 for this bottle. If it’s any helpful reference, Calumet, 8 year was underwhelming and overpriced in my opinion.

Not the best barrel proof EC has put out, but still a damn fine bourbon neat or in a strong cocktail

Rich, vanilla, sweet. Beautiful deep amber color. Lovely to sip and admire (Rocks, large single cube)

This is a very drinkable bourbon, but it’s too mild in flavor for me to love neat, and it get lost in a cocktail. I passed on the bottle I had to someone who would enjoy it more.
