Tastes

I searched for this for a long time and I’ve tried my best to like it, but it is harsh. I’ve had multiple people taste it and they find it harsh as well. I’m not sure if ai got a bad bottle or what, but this is terrible.

I’m several years into this hobby (obsession) and I’ve yet to find anything that I like as much as Blanton’s. Every bottle has subtle differences, but each is absolutely delicious. Unfortunately the secret is out on this one, because it’s getting harder to find. When I do find it, it’s typically >$70, but still worth every penny.

I typically shy away from low proof bourbons and actually prefer a high rye mashbill, but this one shocked me. N: Floral, fruity, with a hint of tobacco P: Sweet on the front end, the corn really shows itself. Mid-palate the oak, tobacco, and the rye shines through and you get great spice. Back end is dominated by leather. F: Very long finish, dominated by tobacco leaves and leather. This bourbon is complex, delicious, and should not be overlooked. It has jumped into my top 3.
