Alright, another store pick from my friends at Beverage King in Norwalk, CT. I have been looking for a rye that also has some added sweetness to go with that natural spiciness. Nose is light. I smell a sweet oak but I do smell that wine right at the end. Another home run barrel selection. This is 107 proof but tastes much lighter (in a good way). What more can I ask for. Sweet flavor from the Tokaji wine, warm spice from the rye and oak flavor that balances both the sweet and the spicy flavors. 6 years is a nice age for this. Goes down easy for me. Very good barrel.59.99 USD per BottleBeverage King

Starlight Distillery Carl T. Huber's Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Honey Barrels Single Barrel Store Pick - Beverage King 115.2 Proof
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed March 29, 2024On the nose is pure honey and sweetness. I could barely tell it’s a bourbon. Oh man, 115.2 proof but for me the sweet honey start makes it feel lower. Nice burn at the end. This is a special bottle. It has that sweet honey, slight oak and spice that give this a really great profile. It’s memorable for me due to actually really tasting that honey. I am dreaming of trying this past a 4.5 year age. Imagine this at 6-10 years old. Wow. This is a really good barrel from a really great store. Beverage King is a great spot and folks should pay attention to this place if they are in Norwalk or live in Fairfield County CT.59.99 USD per BottleBeverage King -
Very nice smell. Cherries, spicy cinnamon and brown sugar. First sip is ultra smooth. Not much of a spicy burn considering its a rye. A delectible pour. So many things to like on this one. Sweet tones, smoothness, and that low light burn, though subdued from all the flavors at play. I’m impressed. Probably the best rye I’ve ever tried.

Tequila Ocho Añejo La Latilla 2015
Tequila Añejo — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed December 28, 2023Very light. Flavors are a bit of a muted pepper, low level of sweetness, small caramel and a nice agave flavor. For an anejo, the color is very light. It’s sippable and really an easy neat drinker. Don’t hate it and don’t love it. Not really tasting the whiskey barrels. -
Willett Pot Still Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 5, 2023 (edited October 7, 2023)Smell is ok. Light sweet smell, slightly harsh. Taste is on the oaky side. It’s light and spicy. Small notes of sweetness. Its solid to good. Hits a few different notes, small harshness creeps in I don’t care for.
