the best scotch i had so far. enough said.

i'm not a professional taster but the first sip i took reminded me of my good ol favorite Craigellachie 23. In other words, this Balblair 1991 is great.

sweeeeeeet. I had loved the 18, but that is even better. Too expensive (175€), but not enough to stop me from stocking another bottle asap.

so far, i find it better than the 25 (although i bought a 2017 version, not the best rated)... Talisker 18 is a balanced scotch, spice, peat, vanilla, it's all there. A real treat!

Took time to fully appreciate it. The damage is done now, i need another bottle. Two drops dripping on my hands when i pour a dram suffice to drive me crazy. What a beautiful peat smell!

Distiller gave this expression one more point than the 23. So did a few people in the comment section on MofM. Well, i'm afraid i have to differ here. Ok, this 17yo is good, special, different from other malts around and in this case a great bottle to reach for when looking for an easy sipper, but in no way could i compare it to the powerful 23 where everything is fruitier, juicier, more complex, well, better...much better imho. still i give this one a solid 4

I hate to say it, but most people were right when they stated that this bottle needed time to be fully appreciated. I was really let down with the 3-4 first sips, especially when i compared it to its sibbling of 18, but that has changed. I hate to say it but most people are right when they name this scotch one of best entry level 12yo scotch whisky on the market. Besides, and this is of the utmost importance, i am in total awe of the design of this distillery's bottles and labels. Good job Stranger & Stranger!

i know this whisky is in no way exceptional but it is right in my wheelhouse when it comes to an elegant easy sipper. I usually love to drink two different drams when i treat myself. I start with something light and finish with a peat punch. Aultmore 18 is a perfect match in this first category, alongside Craigellachie 17 or Balvenie single barrel to name a few. I love it so much, i've stocked 3 more in my cabinet.

Emily Ratajkowski rolled down the window of her luxury mercedes while i was waiting for the green lights, standing on the curb. She smiled at me and offered me a ride home, i accepted. Upon entering the car, i noticed she was barenaked and a little tipsy. She was holding a bottle of this Craigellachie 51 and pointed it towards me. I dared ask for a Glencairn, but she only had a crystal tumbler. No matter how infuriated that made me, i endeavoured not to let it appear on my face and readily accepted this dram. As i was about to bring the glass to my lips, she opened her legs and i was sucked into a vortex. The next thing i remember is hearing my alarm clock and saying to myself it was the last time i get drunk on Ledaig 10...

the first offering (and only to date) from Deanson that i had the pleasure of tasting. Its price back then (58€ on MofM) made me go for it. Do i regret it? not at all, since it is a perfect pour for warmer evenings when you need a good dram. Would i buy it again? at that price, most definitely, especially since Deanston afficionados kept saying how better the new core range (the white labels, not that brown one depicted on Distiller, that happens to be the one i bought) has become. However, for 80 euros, i could buy an Aultmore 18 or a Craigellachie 17, two easy sippers that i tend to favour over this one.
