Woodford Reserve Double Oaked
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 7, 2020 (edited March 4, 2021)Not sure of the high rating here and elsewhere. Interesting interplay between spice and sweet, but not exceptional. Prefer others at same price or lower. Will not repurchase.45.0 USD per Bottle -
Laphroaig Càirdeas 2019 Triple Wood Cask Strength
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed October 7, 2020 (edited June 30, 2021)Wow. Just wow. Nearly perfect. Deep, intense, peaty, complex, finish that lasts and changes. Drinks warm, but not overly harsh for nearly 60%. Looking forward to exploring and finding more flavors.69.0 USD per Bottle -
Willett Family Estate Small Batch Rye 4 Year
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 17, 2020 (edited January 9, 2024)Fantastic. More like a bourbon than I was anticipating. High proof and rye spice are both manageable and accentuate flavors rather than hinder. Tasting notes from Distiller seem spot on. Very good!50.0 USD per Bottle -
Highland Park Magnus
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed August 10, 2020 (edited March 4, 2021)Good, but not great. A bit light in every aspect. Makes for a good Rob Roy though, without feeling like good whiskey is being wasted in a mix.30.0 USD per Bottle -
Lagavulin 9 Year (Game of Thrones-House Lannister)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed July 16, 2020 (edited March 4, 2021)Great. Not perfect as some notes weren't 100%, but a great islay, especially for price. Preferred to Lagavulin 16 which is lower proof, less peaty, and more herbal60.0 USD per Bottle
