Tastes

Nose- green apples, oak Taste- starts off sweet with apple then moved to dark fruit (raisin) and adds cinnamon, grain, and lot of heat Has great mouthfeel and beautiful color. My first balcones whiskey and very impressed by the complexity of flavors.

Nose- lime, orange Taste- starts off with fruity notes (orange, apple?) that then turns hot with spice and possibly ginger, cereal Finish- medium length with sweet fruit, vanilla, and spice Little more harsh than I expected. Least favorite of the core Glenmorangie lineup.

Nose- chocolate, plum, vanilla, peach? Palate- lots of sweet notes of berries then becomes cereal/grain Finish- medium length fruity finish Port finish gives nice plum and berry flavors that make this far better than the original 10 year. Less tangy sweet compared to Lasanta (sherry finish).

Nose- orange, raisins Palate- similar to nose, orange, raisin, butterscotch, Finish- long with little bit of spice added to sweet fruits Sherry finish makes this sweeter and far better tasting than the original glenmorangie 10 yr.

Nose- apple, orange, lemon Palate- honey and butterscotch that then become light spice and toffee...after letting it sit for a bit I get some cereal/grain notes Finish- medium length, sweet

Nose- vanilla and banana custard Palate- starts with some oak and heat which makes way to brown sugar, banana, and caramel Finish- medium length with spice and heat What an incredible value for $16. Amazing bang for the buck. Would make for a great daily sipper, and any bourbon fan should have this in their collection.

Nose- banana bread Palate- cherry, caramel, sugary sweetness Finish- short and sweet with touch of oak Easy drinking and not challenging. The high wheat % really adds to the sweetness. But for same price you can get wild turkey 101 which has a lot more flavor and finish.

Nose- floral and sweet fruit Palate-very different than any other bourbon I’ve had. The port wine finish is very evident. Has lot more of the floral, caramel, fruit and candy notes. Almost tastes more like a speyside scotch than a bourbon. Finish- flavor doesn’t linger too long. Little spice on finish. Overall very pretty and easy to drink. I was fortunate enough to have a glass at someone else’s cost, but not so sure I’d buy a bottle considering the cost and what you’re getting.

Nose- caramel, vanilla, spice (cinnamon?) Palate- starts with classic sweet bourbon flavors (vanilla, brown sugar, caramel etc) then gets spicy with black pepper which lingers through into the finish Finish- medium length with lots of black pepper The high rye content really punches through on this whiskey. Seeing how easy it is to drink I would never have thought it’s 50% ABV. Great bang for the buck.

Nose has sweetness possibly vanilla and caramel. But palate is all oak and spice with touch of vanilla. Finish is medium length and more spice. Heavy rye content is very evident. I prefer bourbons to have some more sweet notes. But it’s still pretty easy to drink.
