Booker's Bourbon Batch 2020-01 "Granny's Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 12, 2020 (edited July 27, 2020)Serious peanut brittle on the nose and pallet. Burnt toffee. Warming and oily, coats the mouth well. For the high proof, doesn't have a bad alcohol burn. -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch B520
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 13, 2020 (edited June 14, 2020)Caramel and vanilla on nose and pallet. A little brown sugar coconut on the nose. Mouth feel is outstanding. Syrupy. A little spicy, warming, but not as hot as expected. I get a lot more burn on the finish from lower proof Old Forester 1920. -
Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 31, 2020 (edited June 13, 2020)Brown sugar, vanilla and cinnamon on the nose and palate. Some alcohol burn early, but doesn’t linger on the back like Old Forester 1920. -
Kilchoman Machir Bay (2018 Edition)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed May 22, 2020 (edited June 9, 2020)Mine is a 2019 batch. Smoke and peat but some floral, oaky notes from the bourbon and sherry casks it was aged in. Not a long finish and on the lighter side. I still enjoy this. -
Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 21, 2020 (edited May 23, 2020)Newer to bourbon but sorry to say I didn’t enjoy this as much as I’d hoped. I got burnt caramel and vanilla, which was nice, but I didn’t enjoy the pepper and spice I got on the back end. Still like Buffalo Trace and Blanton’s single barrel more. -
