Tastes

Tasted both regular New Amsterdam, as well as Peach and Apple flavored versions as well. Very mediocre all around. New Amsterdam unflavored is about what you expect from a vodka in that price range. Slight burning taste, not particularly smooth even chilled, poor aftertaste. You can tell even unflavored is meant to be mixed and not drank straight unfortunately. The flavored (Peach and Apple I tried) fate a bit better, though not much. Considering they are 70 proof vs. 80 of most traditional vodkas they are a little less hash in that respect. However they are sugary/syrupy, and almost over flavored. The Apple especially reminds me of 99 Apples. Overall there isn’t any reason I’d recommend New Amsterdam. It’s average to below average. To many other vodka in that price range that are much better: Russian Standard or Effen are much better for unflavored at that price range
