Wow!! This is my neck pour review and got to say, I love it. Granted I may be a bit bias as Balcones single malt is a household favorite. I tested first the smell of the whiskey in my hands, allowing the alcohol to dissipate and seeing what notes lingered. Got a strong coffee and chocolate flavor, very rich smell. Nose: Could be me but didn't find too many flavors standing out. Got a bit of caramel like a bourbon but something on the darker side. Taste: Strong smoke initially but not like a peated selection. Toffee, dark stone fruit, earthy, and hard to say but almost a small hint of licorice. I'm not a big fan of licorice but this was enjoyable. Follow thru: The taste from the start lingers with the smokey feel coating the palate, along with a dark chocolate. Very good, not overbearing and pleasant. Would be great with a medium to dark body cigar.44.0 USD per Bottle

For the neck pour, very smooth, got some light flavors, not over powering but a bit faint for taste. A bit watered down. For a 100 proof, it does a an oily feel and coats the palate. Some pepper in the back end that lingers. Would be an easy choice as an intro whiskey for those never had whiskey. Edit: As it opened up, it was very ketucky esk with flavors developing more. Starting to get a nice cherry which is lovely. Considering a higher rating but will come back another time

Nose: presents with a umami smell along with th earthy agave. At first, the smells challenged each other, making the nose not very appealing but opened up to a favorable balance. Palate: As with the nose, the flavors at first sip overpowered each other and seemed less desirable. As the por was able to open, it did become more enjoyable with some light earthy unami tones with some flavor of agave.

Old Grand-Dad Bonded Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 31, 2022 (edited April 3, 2023)Nose: Citrus orange on the nose with rye notes Taste: Baking spice and molasses in the front. Sweet notes of oak, vanilla and corn. Hint of citrus at the end. Texture: covers the palate nicely and is smooth Recommend neat or as a mixer for the price and provides good flavor for the price as a daily sipper -
Nose: honey, oak, vanilla and fruit Taste: starts off with a spice flavor that fades into a light oak with a fruit forward finish, got a hint of raspberry and orange on the back Taste after 10 minutes: flavor grows more sweet with notes of molasses and citrus notes and very slight notes of dark fruit Would recommend as it's a balanced bourbon with some good complexity for the price,, just lacking in strong notes that shine through
