This was a very surprising whisky. Let’s start by saying for the price, this is a great value, a 25 Single Malt Highland Whisky for about $115, it’s an amazing deal. The flavors are sweet honey, butterscotch, a little pepper/spicy. The palate has more honey and butterscotch and the finish is well balance. It reminds me of Royal Brackla, but at a much better price, considering that a Royal Brackla 21 is around $230.

Lagavulin 9 Year (Game of Thrones-House Lannister)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed February 27, 2021Wow. Fresh, a little young and a little punch on the nose. Let it breathe a little to tame the peat. Release the snake to open up to a more sweet and truly great drink. If you like peat and can find this for a good price, consider it. -
Swamp Fox King's Town
Rye — Buena Vista, Georgia, USA
Reviewed February 22, 2021 (edited February 23, 2021)If I could give it less than 0.25, I would. The nose is like wet grass with a background of burnt wood. The palate is more wet grass with burn wood and ashes and the finish is strong with lingering burnt ash. I don't know if coke can save this one. -
Joseph Magnus Triple Cask Finished Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (Finished and Bottled in Washington DC), USA
Reviewed January 24, 2021 (edited April 12, 2022)This bourbon pushes the limit on the classical bourbon notes, and for me this is a big plus. The maturation in three different casks it’s clear on the nose. Very complex and intriguing. I let my drink sit for a few minutes and notes of chocolate, spices, cinnamon, caramel cones through. The Sherry and Cognac influence seems balance. On the palate, these notes show up strong, for me the bourbon notes came in on the va k end, like a reminder that this is a bourbon. Some leather notes also notes, similar to aged runs like El Dorado 15/21 or Appleton Estate 21. The price is high, I think that I will enjoy this one for a while. -
Yellowstone Select Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 18, 2021 (edited February 4, 2021)For around $40, this was an ok bourbon. Peppery, some sweetness, light vanilla and medium finish. Something different from the run of the mill. -
Wow. What are surprise. This whisky on the. One reminded me of an Irish whiskey for its sweetness, fruity aromas. But once it hit the palate, it was an explosion of flavors. Citrus flavors like orange, mandarin, zest, then apricot, peaches and the finish was more citrus, with a twist, as it reminded me of beer. No burn, very pleasant. A very easy drink when you want something fruity.

A surprising whiskey. On the nose there was vanilla for miles and a sweetness that reminded me of Bourbon. It wasn’t until my friend told me that the mash is 94% corn that it clicked. It didn’t have the caramel notes from bourbon, but this was enjoyable. The finish is medium with more sweet vanilla and nuts like nutmeg. This can be an easy daily go to.

Highland Park 18 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed January 2, 2021 (edited April 10, 2021)I wanted to try this for many months. Finally got a bottle and decided to open the New Year with something great. This whisky didn't disappoint. The nose is complex, with fruit notes and light smoke, ashes, salted meat (like beef jerky). When I nose the glass from the edge, I get mostly fruit flavors and spices, but I put my nose in the center of the glass, the smoke, ash, meat, vanilla comes through. The palate shows sherry flavors with slight smoke lingering from the back. Not much salt for me here and the finish is silky, lasting smoke, but not overwhelming. This is an exceptional drink, glad that I finally got mine!150.0 USD per Bottle -
My experience started with a broken top. The bottle was dusty and probably not kept in the best conditions. On the nose I got dark fruits and spice, but there was a funk to it, not sure if this related to the barley or something else. The palate was full with spices, but that funk remained. The finish was long and warm. I’m looking forward to the next drink and hope my opinion will be different.

I have been waiting to pop this bottle, and today was the day. On the nose, this has light aromas of citrus, floral, and maybe allspice. The palate has a little pepper, with more citrus notes, but overall this is a light scotch. Easy to drink, when you want something without expecting too much. This is not an offensive drink, but once this is gone, it will be a good memory.
