Royal Lochnagar 12 Year (Game of Thrones-House Baratheon)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed June 26, 2021NOSE: herbal, mint, vanilla, honey, citrus TASTE: honey, sweet, a bit of apple FINISH: short but pleasant & sweet Good daily dram -
NOSE: pure bourbon. You can’t mix it up with anything else. Corn, vanilla, a bit of nuts TASTE: here is nothing from the bourbon standard. Spices & soy sauce on the first line, smoked meat FINISH: corn- but not the sweet one, straight from the field corn, a bit o peat. The label doesn’t lie- it’s not a bourbon, it’s a Texas whisky.

Lagavulin 2005 Distillers Edition (Bottled 2020)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed June 25, 2021NOSE: citrus, sherry, bit of earth, leather TASTE: bit of smoke, cigar, sherry, fruity FINISH: sweet, long with a hint of smoke in the end Not a Lagavulin taste at all, but a great and original taste -
NOSE: vanilla, sweet pie, apple, smoke, cigar, soap TASTE: salt water, smoke, a bit of fruits, smoked meat FINISH: long lasting, peated, fruits, it’s 60” but you can’t feel that at all. I love Bruichladdich distillery and Octomore is basically the essence of their products- on one hand sweet and fruity and the same time it’s full of smoke. Love it!

NOSE: peated- but not so hard, caramel, but of sweetness, leather, nail polish, smoked meat, plum TASTE: nicely peated, fruity, vanilla, caramel, nuts, leather, tobacco FINISH: long lasting, sweet, nuts peated That is great whisky, after the Laddie, this is even better! There is so much beside the smoke! Great!!

NOSE: sherry, banana, vanilla, honey, it’s Islay- soft hint of smoke TASTE: sherry, vanilla, hint of smoke, bit of honey, very sweet FINISH: short but very pleasing & sweet It’s not very complicated whisky but to be honest- very pleasant to drink. It’s quite cheap whisky so a good idea for a free evening
