Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 3, 2019 (edited February 8, 2022)Well balanced, not perfect but at the price point this is certainly worth the minimal investment. It’s certainly sweet but you can still taste the oak. The only setback is the lack of complexity and depth of the finish. This is a perfect example of a successful 20th century survival of the dark ages of bourbon. It’s a drinker, not a shelf trophy!36.0 USD per Bottle -
Peerless Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 26, 2019 (edited August 15, 2021)I got a sample of this from a friend and I’m kinda glad I didn’t buy it for myself. The nose was overpowered by ethanol leaving very little else to detect, the palate is boring and the finish evaporated. Given current bourbon trends and hipster lingo, I’d call this a minimalist bourbon... minimum age, minimum flavor complexity and minimum value for price. I hope they left some of this in the barrel for future years. It’ll probably have some potential once it graduates high school, but for now... it’s a kind of an annoying little 6th grader that just wants your money. -
Angel's Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 22, 2019Good craft bourbon that’s a touch on the sweet side. The port finish is noticeable but not overpowering. Neat is the only way to enjoy the full experience, the already low proof will cause the special subtleties to be lost with the addition of water or ice. The price point is right at the maximum of what this whiskey deserves. If you find it priced over $50, keep moving... theres better stuff in that priced range.48.0 USD per Bottle -
Ancient Ancient Age 10 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 22, 2019 (edited August 3, 2021)Solid bottom shelf work horse. Buffalo Trace mash bill #2 shines through with the higher rye content. Don’t confuse this with the standard Ancient Age, the 10 year is worth the minimal investment for your home bar.18.0 USD per Bottle -

Woodinville Cask Strength Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Washington, USA
Reviewed October 21, 2019 (edited March 12, 2022)Phenomenal cask strength bourbon! This is everything right about the craft bourbon industry. I toured the distillery this summer and got the chance to be part of a private barrel selection. These guys are taking every effort to produce a world class whiskey. Seasoned barrel staves, toasted heads, single sourced corn from a local farm. All that effort results in a burst of cinnamon and baked spices on the palate led by the warm vanilla nose. The oak is the star of the finish that lingers on and on. Kentucky meet Washington!58.0 USD per Bottle -
This is a home bar staple and a dependable rye. Classic notes putting the rye forward. Find yourself a bottle of Herbsaint and some Peychaud’s bitters and you got yourself a seriously good cocktail. Or... skip the science project and enjoy this neat, either way you’re gonna enjoy BT’s flagship rye!29.0 USD per Bottle
