Tastes

This is one of my go-to’s. Its fairly high proof (108.5) but having a glass or two of this at night is a great way to wind down. Lots of sweetness and oak on the nose, with hints of spices. The palate has tons of spice with a splash of green tea. The finish is nearly all spice with a but of oak and cherry coming through. Always worth a buy for me.

The nose of this rye is almost entirely caramel, but I noticed some spice and grass as well. The palate is heavy caramel, toffee, with some herbal tea and grasses. This is much sweeter than I expected. I like it, but this isnt too complex and I expected a but more from this distillery. I’ll stick to their Uncut Unfiltered.

The nose of this whiskey is different than its non-select sister. This smells of heavy oak, toffee, and butterscotch. The initial taste is silky with butterscotch. Phenomenal and much sweeter than I imagined. I prefer its sister, but this is excellent. Barrel 28888 Bottle 159 ABV: 49.4%

The aroma of this Double Rye Whiskey is instantly intriguing in unexpected ways as it presents itself with botanicals, leather, and licorice. Upon sipping, the texture and viscosity is reminiscent of High West American Prairie, in that they are both thin; yet this has a dash of molasses to thicken it up in a way that compliments the aroma and taste. The taste is like the aroma in that surprise is the name of the game. Oak, cinnamon, botanicals, and leather all come to the forefront immediately, with all but the leather sticking around for the finish. In it’s wake, the rye spice comes heavy and strong to compliment the oak and cinnamon, and I was surpised at how well the botanicals danced with the rest. This bourbon is fantastic. The nose gives notes of pepper, toffee, and butterscotch. The initial taste is quite hot, but mellows into a very strong spice with pepper, butterscotch, oak, and leather. The finish builds nicely, and the butterscotch fades and leaves toffee in its wake as the leather comes forward. Oddly enough, the more you have the profile completely shifts, with heavy oak and leather on the palate and a sweeter finish. Excellent. Batch 1666 Bittled December 18, 2022
