Smoke Wagon Small Batch Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Nevada), USA
Reviewed February 5, 2022This was like a caramel bomb up front. I kept being reminded of butterscotch candies. Very pleasant finish. -
Rittenhouse Rye Bottled in Bond
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 4, 2022 (edited April 9, 2022)I kind of get apricots up front on both the nose and pallet. Not overly spicy, but enough to know this is a rye. A little heat on this, but again it’s not too hot. I bought this for cocktails, but could definitely see myself sipping this one neat. -
The description says cherries and chocolate. I get the chocolate for sure. I get a perfume nose which might be due to the high rye content. The palette is delicious. A lot of oak, chocolate, and again that rye is pretty dominant. The finish is nice. Solid burn but not overbearing, with a ton of oak.

Yellowstone Select Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 30, 2022 (edited April 23, 2022)I like it. It has a bit of a peanut taste to it, which I never got until now. Pretty mellow supper. Worth the $30 I paid for it. -
Monk's Road Fifth District Series Cold Springs Distillery

Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 23, 2022 (edited February 16, 2022)To me, this is the perfect bourbon. It’s sippable unlike many high proofers, yet has enough heat to make you feel warm in your chest. I wish it was more available. I would gladly pay $50-$60 for a bottle. It’s sweet and smoky. Finish is nice. I get the age on it, and it lingers just long enough. Keeps me wanting more. I love this stuff. -
Old Forester 1897 Bottled In Bond
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 15, 2022 (edited January 20, 2022)This one’s aight…. My first entry into the Whiskey Row series. I loved it at first, but after having 1920 and 1910 it’s hard to rate. I’m trying to judge on its own, but I keep going back to those amazing bottles. That said this is pretty decent for what it is. Pallet: is bananas mostly, and pretty sweet. I finish is short but oaky. It’s pleasant for sure. Not much heat on it either, which is a bit disappointing. -
Note to self: never judge a bourbon when you first taste it. Give it some time to breathe and come back to it. So when I first tasted this, I thought…meh, a spicier blade and bow. The further I got into it though, my thoughts quickly changed. This is fantastic. One of the best ones I’ve had. Hard to find, but I got lucky today. Anyway, I get a very floral nose at first. A little vanilla, rye spice, and orange. On the pallet it is very sweet with an enjoyable burn. The finish is nice. Get a good amount of oak and spice, some leather. The finish lasts a decent amount of time, though not long enough.
