Tastes

N: Very light and lemony. There are herbaceous and floral notes intermingling behind the buttery scents. Smells rather thin. T: Thin, light, buttery, and citrusy. Pretty dry and bitter on the finish. I find a pleasant floral quality on the forefront.

N: Spicy, sweet, and zesty. Apple fruitiness, caramels, and vanilla are immediately apparent. T: Sweet and mildly spicy with notes of lemon, candied apple, and bittersweet chocolate. The rye in the mash bill lends a keynote sweetness and black peppery spice to the dram. This is a really excellent bourbon, especially given the price point. Fundamentally solid!

I love this bourbon! N: Deep caramel and warm baked pastry sweetness. Subtle smoke and lemon with zesty spice qualities. T: Vanilla, caramel, oaky spices, smoke, sweet bread, and dark fruit. Like dessert!

Nose: Rich, buttery caramel and vanilla with dried fruits and caramelized marshmallow. Taste: Prominent oak flavors, vanilla, and caramel. Lacks complexity for me but is still very enjoyable. Would like to taste again for different notes.

Nose: Sweet, syrupy (maple), and honeyed with an oaky spice, apples, and fruit. Taste: Smooth mouthfeel, little initial spice, and honey.

Nose: Alcohol (a little surprising for its ABV), acetone, and a light spiciness. Taste: Rather syrupy. I'm not pinpointing much character, which may be the result of the overpowering acetone aroma. Probably fine as a cheap mixer.

Nose: Butter and pastry with a rich caramel/candied sweetness, a little spice and vanilla bean. Taste: Sweet and smooth with notes of baking spices, honey, and caramel. Would mix very well in a cocktail, though it is very tasty on its own.

Nose: Vanilla, caramel, and baking spices with a subtle oak and wood smokiness. On a second tasting, dried fruit, flower, and apple characteristics are coming through. Taste: Olfactory characteristics come through on the palate with a smooth, secondary butterscotch and tertiary caramel. Smooth and pleasantly sweet. Very enjoyable introduction to Highland/Speyside whiskey.
