Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 14, 2024 (edited July 20, 2024)To me the sweetness is upront on this one, it’s a pleasant feel on the nose, its giving me fresh berry vibes to it. The palate is very tame and smooth and Im really liking the mouth feel on this as well, it kinda coats the inside of your mouth and has a viscous feel to it. In terms of flavor Im getting a bit of a woody and oaky taste to and the sweetness isnt as upront and starts to fade onto the finish but in a calm pleasent manner. This is a great daily sipper31.0 USD per Bottle -
Fruity sweetness on the nose like a faint cherry, almost getting a sunscreen and dish soap scent to it and not in a bad way. This one has some heat to it, I can feel it all the way down my chest. To me it has a strong cinamon sweetness flavor to it, like a red hot candy. Flavor wise im not getting a whole lot else but Its smooth and the mouth feel is good too, not too watery. And i enjoy how the heat kinda lingers on the end of the palate after the finsih. I really enjoyed this poor and it will definitely be part of my normal rotation.45.0 USD per Bottle

Maker's Mark Cask Strength Batch 20-05 (108.7 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 6, 2024 (edited July 7, 2024)Im getting less sweetness than I expected for a makers product. It has a freash scent to it, though, like a herby peppermint or flowery scent to it. This one also doesnt produce the heat that I would expect with the proof point when it first hits the mouth. What I get with the initial palate is a smooth, nutty, banana bread taste and one that is subtly sweet. To me as this fades at the finsih the sweetness disappates a bit and im left with a slight bittery taste. I did enjoy this sip, though and I think it brings a bit more depth than the basic makers option.40.0 USD per Bottle -
On the nose I'm not really getting any sweetness, but more of a latexy scent to it -like how it would smell when you're trying to blow up a rubber balloon or like when you put on those doctor exam gloves. Right away with the sip too the mouthfeel is a bit watery to me, I like a little more volume than this to my sip. I may be way off with this but it almost has a kind of bland vegetable taste to it to me - probably due to the lack of really any resemblance of sweetness, but I am getting a hint of a peppery or baking spice taste it that gives it a little more character.34.0 USD per Bottle

I am getting a sweetness upfront on the nose, almost like a melted butter scent - its not overpowering but definitely present. I am getting a bit of a muted leathery tone to it as well - like a new baseball mit kind of smell. It's a rather simple nose to me. The simplicity continues with me on the palate. It's a slightly sweet nutty taste, like a lightly carmelized cashew note to it but nothing really else is jumping out to me. It is a smooth sip and a nice daily sipper. Doesn't blow me out of the water but really great quality if you can find it at MSRP.30.0 USD per Bottle

The nose is more of a gentle sweetness that caresses your nostrils like a carmel syrup scent. Maybe even like a light refreshing cucumber note as well. On the palate it has hs a bit more of a bite to it than what I was expecting almost as if it has a bit higher rye content. The main contributing profile, though, is that carmel or candied apple taste that sticks with you from the front end all the way to the finish. I'm not getting a whole lot else to it but it's an enjoyable sip especially for those who like a sweeter profile.40.0 USD per Bottle

Nose is potent and a bit aggressive at first whiff with a grape, red-wine like scent and its a little more of a vinegary-bitter than sweet scent, also a bit of a spearmint mouthwash note to it. The palate is a bit softer than the nose and what first sticks out to me is a light vanilla note followed by again that bitter, grapey note with a touch of a woody taste. The bitterness does linger a bit though following the sip. I do enjoy the mouth-feel, a bit oily and smooth going down. For a local, craft distillery this is not a terrible option and I love the logo as I'm a Philly native and love the Eagles. GO BIRDS!!!37.0 USD per Bottle

Right away on the nose there is a carmel cookie dough sweetness as if you just walked into a sweet shop or bakery. This sweetness fades on the palate and becomes a bit more earthy and savory and tobaccoy on the finish. I appreciate the contrast between the nose and palate. Overall I think this is a good option for people as they are transitioning into the higher bourbon proof point. Better Wild Turkey options out there but great value for the price.26.0 USD per Bottle

More of a muted scent on the nose, not getting a ton of sweetness and more of a leathery and minty scent like the new car smell with a hanging car freshener or like a diluted pine sol. On the palate it lands a bit flat for me up-front, I am getting a little baking spice note like a light cinnamon. The mouthfeel is a bit too watery for me. The finish is not blowing me away either as it has a bit of a rye bite to it but fades relatively quickly. Overall a good bourbon for those not into higher proof optins and can be a nice choice as a mixer in cocktails as it has that quintessential bourbon flavor.25.0 USD per Bottle

Redemption Wheated Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed June 24, 2024 (edited September 18, 2024)A bit of a muted sweetness on the nose like a vanilla extract, and also bit of an earthy, woody nose to it. I'm a fan of wheated bourbon and was hoping for a bit more of that sweet scent to hit me in the face. On the palate that muted sweetness continues but there is also a bit more of a peppery bite to it. This is then followed by more of a bitter note on the backend almost as if you were eating a lightly seasoned bowl of corn. I do like the mouth-feel, a little oilier and smooth on the way down. Overall, I enjoy this as a daily sipper wheated bourbon but it doesn't knock my scoks off and there are better wheated options out there for similar price.40.0 USD per Bottle
