Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2022 BRT-01
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed November 12, 2022 (edited November 18, 2022)Nose is INCREDIBLE. Wow. Pure thick maple candied bacon. Tobacco as well. Palette punches immediately with spice and barrel, fades away into DELICIOUS s’mores. Burnt marshmallow with chocolate. Nice pleasant fade away rhat sits with you. Don’t think I enjoy the first part of the palette but 2/3 of it is utterly sublime. -
Stellum Serpens Single Barrel Rye

Really solid. $30 for 1L, awesome deal. Rye notes at 51% rye and 37% corn are about what you would expect, they exist but are muted. Lots of caramel. Palette is spiced warm apple alllll day. Finish isn’t the cleanest but for a value bottle it’s expected. Good sipper, great value. Better then the bourbon 101 #hottake

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch C922
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 31, 2022 (edited April 12, 2023)First ECBP, about $60 in South Oregon. What a splendid product, very very oily and rich. Vanilla and apple sweetness. Caramel apple crisp with some spice. Mild oak and tobacco mid palette. Stays around for a delightful hug in the back, astonishing lack of astringency and warm spice. One of the very best I’ve had, absolute crazy deal at the price I paid. Saving the rest for my wedding if I can’t find a replacement in time. -
Cinnamon, oak, vanilla, how boring for notes but it’s not anything crazy. Thin mouthfeel, not getting the spike or hot that others are mentioning but wouldn’t say it’s balanced by any means. Fairly bitter. It’s def lower then 1910 and I’d say on par with Woodford DO if not a step below. Rough at $45 thooooooo

Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 17, 2022 (edited October 30, 2022)Retaste 5 years later: It’s pretty… okay honestly. It’s bourbon! It’s good, but it’s playing pretty safe. It’s sweet with some oak. Some BT rye spice, some slight mint. Again, it’s bourbon. God people don’t pay anything but MSRP.
