Russell's Reserve 13 Year Bourbon (2022 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 17, 2022 (edited December 31, 2022)Sweet maple syrup on the nose. Very oaky palate, intense. Spice, WT funk, very pleasant at 57%. Finish is long and dry with lovely sweet tobacco. It’s good…. but I like RR10 single barrel better. Didn’t expect that. As a certified WT fanboy I am DELIGHTED to have tried it! -
Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 15, 2022 (edited October 17, 2022)Barrel 2036 Warehouse M Spicy son a gun! Wild Turkey funk in full force. Similar to RR 10 SB but thinner mouthful and much less sweet. Much more okay. More aggressive, which I like in this occasion. Overall good! Price hurts though, bottle was $65. For being a product to fight Blanton’s at least my barrel is interesting and beats it IMO. I’ll have to see how it does in my flight fight against RR10, RR10SB, and Rare Breed. -

Green Spot Single Pot Still
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed October 8, 2022 (edited October 13, 2022)Vanilla. Like drinking a warm mulled spice capri sun. Light and easy, soft and pleasant mouth feel. Spiced but not sharp -
Isn’t this a 51% rye? You can tell. It’s good. Soft bouquet or rye spice notes, some oak and mint. Soft and sweet. Very very easy drinking. Would be a good intro for rye but I don’t think it’s a great representation of the class. Missing more complexity and nuance with the spice/pepper/herbal you can find in others. Outside of that I find it divine. Would like to try 6 reserve single barrel head to head.
