Old Forester 1897 Bottled In Bond
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 1, 2022 (edited March 24, 2022)Tasting again 5ish years later because I decided I needed all the Whiskey Row bottles on my bar. Wife isn’t please but here we are. Classic bourbon, fairly complex, much more interesting then the 1870 I had before. Proof point is money and a nice amount of mouth feel and spice. Good dram! -
Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year Bourbon (107 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 27, 2022 (edited November 16, 2022)$28 at local pup I stumbled into. Halfway through the bottle for those who will complain about neck pours. I am the last person who will hunt or chase BT products…but this is fucking good. It reminds me vaguely of Russel’s Reserve Single Barrel and but a more balanced/polished dram. Sweet sugar and deep caramel, cherries you’ve had in the fridge for couple days that are nice and ripe. Pallette is legit. Long and strong, red hot cherry and some nice oak. This is very good. Love the proof as well. I know BP is what people want but 55%~ is perfect for me. I would NOT pay a dime over…. $80 for this. Not sure what msrp is but imagine buying this at secondary for the hype. Don’t chase the whales boys and girls! -
This is the best four roses product for myself. Haven’t enjoyed others but the proof is much better with the mash bill IMO. Nose is bovine leather in a wheat field in July. Reminds me of home. Sweet, maraschino cherry. Some spice. Palette is baked lemon bread from the old lady, spicy and rich. A bit acidic (like how what is my palette interpreting?) but I can finish the dram. Wouldn’t buy a bottle.
