Walking Stick Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 7, 2020 (edited January 29, 2022)I tried this bourbon on about 3 separate occasions, tried to like it but just ended up being a mixer to me. Bourbon is not necessary just bad, its just very bland and ok. The bottle is basic, the label (in my opinion) looks cheap and ugly, the price point is 30 - 40$ range. This one drinks more like a sub 20$ bottle. Used as a mixer and got this one out of my collection. If it was cheaper, I would bump up my rating.35.0 USD per Bottle -
Enjoying with a single ice cube Nose - sweet and sugary. Notes of brown sugar cinnamon and some vanilla notes Taste - sweet from start to finish with a small bit of heat and spice towards the end. This one starts pretty basic to me just sweet but gets better as it sets on the tongue. Overall and value - weird availability but a good cheap bourbon when found. Seen as cheap as 20 and high as 59. Usually find about 25$ in my area.25.0 USD per Bottle

Trying this one again with a single cube after opened up some. Nose - peanuts, vanilla, light leather and maybe even some maple notes Taste- ice helps mellow out most the spiciness and burn that comes along with this one. Roll it around to tongue and really get the spicy notes this one has still. Sweet vanilla and maple taste with spice. Overall and value - smells better than it tastes. Personally I’m not very much into the spicy bourbons, but this is still good. It’s got the old forester brand, a cool logo and decent looking bottle. My issue is this drinks more like a 30$ bottle range and not a 50-60$ bottle. A quick summary Decent drinker, great nose, spicy maple flavors, but overpriced for what you get

Isaac Bowman Straight Bourbon Finished in Port Barrels
Bourbon — Virginia, USA
Reviewed April 28, 2020 (edited July 30, 2020)Enjoying neat Nose - very heavy cherries and a good sweet candy sugary smell. Taste - starts rich oily and fruity with some floral notes too. Very unique taste from start to finish with a very light bite at the very very end. Very easy to drink and smooth. Overall and value I love a great unique taste and this bourbon offers not only a unique taste but also a great price point and cool looking bottle and history. Unfortunately this bottle is not easy to find in my area and had to order online. Paid a whopping 30$ but shipping can add a good 20$ to that bill. Overall this is a solid choice for a bourbon lover wanting something a little bit different fruity and floral without breaking the bank30.0 USD per Bottle -
Michter's US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 27, 2020 (edited August 21, 2020)Enjoying neat after opened a couple weeks Nose - caramel hits me first, then some honey and vanilla and light ethanol. Very good sweet smelling bourbon. Taste - very rich and oily on the tongue. Sweet vanilla and honey round off from pretty much start to finish on this one. Just a little spice at the end and makes this round off very well and not overly sweet as the nose suggests. Very good overall Overall and value My opinion the nose is the best thing to this bourbon as it’s very sweet and unique. The bottle and label get some style points, the taste is overall very good but had better. Price point being about 38-50$ you expect a pretty decent bourbon in that range and this checks all the boxes that make it a great bourbon.45.0 USD per Bottle -
Enjoying neat Nose - vanilla and ethanol. Some light oaky spices Taste - starts very smooth and vanilla. As it sets on the tongue it begins to get a little bitter. End is smooth with a light spicy note and rounds out to a heavy oak or smokiness. Overall and value - love the sweet notes on the palate and how easily drinkable it is. Great overall bourbon that is easily found from 20-25$ making it a great value. Style points to the bottle with the unique bright red wax.22.0 USD per Bottle

Trying this one again neat Nose - Wow! This is a great smelling bourbon. Heavy vanilla and cherries, very sweet smelling. Light leather smell with an extremely light ethanol smell. This is one of the best smelling bourbons to date for me Taste - Tastes actually a lot like it smells which is not always common with bourbon. Starts very very smooth and rich with vanilla cherries. This one keeps going on as a smooth very drinkable and likeable bourbon. Finishes off still very smooth with a very very small spiciness to it. Oak and vanilla finish that are long lasting on the tongue. Overall and value One of the better bourbons I have had the pleasure of drinking. This is just simply great bourbon. Smooth, complex, stellar nose, readily available, and a price right around 50$ mark. With a bourbon this great, you don't mind paying a bit more for it compared to some of the 20-40$ bottles. Overall this should be one of the best available bourbons in my opinion.54.0 USD per Bottle

Trying this one out neat. Been a long time since having anything with wild turkey in the name! Nose - honey, vanilla, light cinnamon and oak or smoke. Taste - this one starts out super smooth on the tongue. Oily I would classify it. Everything I’m tasting on this one is well balanced. There is not one particular taste that overpowers the rest. Light vanilla to start, some subtle nuttiness, some oak, at the very end get a very very light burn and Smokey taste. Really enjoyable. Overall and value A great looking bottle and wild turkey product for around 30-40 range. I think there is definitely value here in my book. The bourbon has a lot going on from start to finish. Style points for the bottle and large wooden tipped cork. Overall I think this is a pretty solid choice.35.0 USD per Bottle

Trying this one with a little bit of water. Nose - heavy caramel and spices. Taste - starts kind of mellow and bland get a bit of floral and very light vanilla then ends very spicy and some pepper. Overall and value I must say I’m very disappointed in this particular barrel. I have had others that are much less spicy and easier to drink. Adding a cube or two help tone this one down quite a bit but it’s still not the best. Going to hopefully get a much better single barrel next time42.0 USD per Bottle

Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 23, 2020 (edited May 7, 2020)Revisiting this one yet again. Hard to pass up Nose - sweet, rich, sugary and some oaky leather at the end once it sets. So many good things to say about the nose on this one Taste - So much going on with this bourbon. So many flavors all at once. Caramel, chocolate and sweet start to this one, once it starts setting and rolling around the tongue more flavors start to pop. A lot of vanilla and then a lightly spicy cinnamon finish to it. Such a complex bourbon. Overall and value - overall this bourbon is one of the more complex to the nose and palate than most I have tried. This is a solid choice for any bourbon collector. Can be a bit hard to find and pricing ranges from mid 30s range all the way up to secondary market of 70+. A must have for any bourbon enthusiast.50.0 USD per Bottle
