Of the non-age stamped Nikka single malt range, I love this one the most. Great neat, on ice, or slowly dripped with water. Each way of drinking changes the whiskey enough to give you a different experience each time. I'm a big big fan.

Smell from the bottle, and it's almost rum like, smell in the glass and a whiskey forms. Use a pipette if you can, add 1/4 a drop of clean water before every small sip... This magic changes and takes you through a wealth of flavour, look out for fig, and date, and nuts and spices, look out for all of the 'wonderful' that the sherry casks and bourbon barrels have brought this beautiful liquid. Absolutely one of the best ways to spend an hour with 50ml of whiskey. Take the chance if you can

The 2013 bottling of this (the only I've tasted) is sublime. Tasting canned fruit brought me back to my childhood, the long finish snapped me back to the present. This whiskey gave me a journey, and one I thoroughly enjoyed, and isn't that the point? delicious

I love the Komagatake series from Mars. The differences between each variant are clear and interesting, but they maintain a good cohesion between them that allow them to be indented as a set. Precision whiskey crafting, so much fun to taste and compare. (and a slightly higher rating fir this one as it's my favourite of the three)

Ok, it's a respected Japanese whiskey icon, and I've heard the 17, 25..... older variants are phenomenal, I'm sure they are, but for the price this didn't do it for me, Suntory have some amazing things in what they do, but this isn't one of them imhu.

Hands down one of the more interesting whiskeys I have had the pleasure of tasting. Love the bourbon barrel influences, those old fired wood flavours come in beautifully if you wait and sip slow! It's subtle and smooth, but the flavour composition of this bottle has helped improve my palate to no end! Wonderful, don't know why this isn't rated higher.

A nice single malt from Nikka, suffering from a lack of aged whiskey to release age stamped bottles. Not their most interesting work, but decent for those who enjoy lighter Scottish styles.

For a blended whiskey at this price, you'd be hard pressed to find something more interesting.
