Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 30, 2020 (edited October 15, 2020)It’s a good’n. Nose- English breakfast tea, spice, lemon cake, Stetson cologne. Palate- caramel, vanilla covered mints, clove spice, cinnamon. Finish- sweet and spicy fresh leather. Like a brand new pair of Redwings. -
Scallywag Blended Malt
Blended Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed September 29, 2020 (edited October 21, 2020)I only bought this for the pup on the front. It’s ok. Decent smokey fruit cake on the nose. Doesn’t really translate to the palate. It’s more of a leather boot that’s been worn through a peat bog. Finish is about the same. Cool-ass label though. -
Balvenie Peated Cask 17 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed September 26, 2020 (edited May 4, 2021)This is some straight up 3 piece suit wearing, I own 4 giant Irish Wolfhounds, and have a billiards table in my rich mahogany wrapped library, drink. I think if I had covid, this would kill it and turn it into chest hair. This manly dram is a smoke filled medicinal dream. The palate has some smoked honey glazed ham, peat, and ocean water. The good northern Scotland kind, not that Myrtle Beach kid piss. -
Angel's Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 26, 2020This is an interesting one. It’s a little on the sweeter side all of the way through. Its very calm and easy to drink. Imagine if someone took flat Coca Cola and aged it in an whiskey barrel. It’s probably a great choice for someone that is wanting to branch off into drinking whiskey straight. -
Weller Antique 107 Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 24, 2020 (edited January 16, 2021)Citrus and light grain on the nose but it doesn’t come through on the palate. I get more of a charred oak, leather, very very slight sweet flavor in the back that I can’t quite nail down. I think it’s the fact that I found this at a Kroger for $50. -
WhistlePig 10 Year Single Barrel Rye
Rye — Canada
Reviewed September 21, 2020 (edited February 8, 2023)Apple cinnamon oatmeal on the nose. Palate has clove, chai tea, vanilla Finish caries some heat but the sweet spices follow it. -
Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 18, 2020 (edited September 24, 2020)I get subtle apple and a bit of cinnamon, caramel, and vanilla. I let this sit for maybe 15 minutes before I drank and it really dialed the heat back off of the nose.
