Suntory AO World Whisky
Other Whiskey — Multiple Countries
Reviewed September 3, 2022 (edited March 31, 2023)Surprisingly tasty, though I guess I shouldn’t be surprised as I generally enjoy all of Suntory’s major offerings. Sweet, but balanced with hints of barrel spice and peat that pair nicely with a malty sweetness and floral notes. Not a game changer, but one I’d gladly drink again. -
Arran Sauternes Cask Finish Single Malt
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed August 15, 2022 (edited November 6, 2023)The perfect summer dram. Ripe figs and honeydew on the nose, and a delightfully sweet, but not syrupy, honey throughout the palate. Barrel age, cloves and citrus carry out the finish, with the proof bringing enough heat to make sure there’s nothing cloying. A clean, quality whisky that is simply delicious to sip on at the end of a long summer day. -
Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 12, 2022 (edited August 21, 2022)Fantastic bourbon. Cherries, chocolate and a hint of coconut on the nose, with a sweet and spicy palate that shows the high rye bill. Rich and delicious, and a perfect after hours sip. -
Rhum J.M Agricole Blanc White Rum 50%
Rhum Agricole Blanc — Martinique
Reviewed April 18, 2022 (edited May 22, 2024)Wow. Just wow. My first agricole and it’s a game changer. Without any reference point amongst other rhum agricoles, all I can say is the grassy, funky, altogether-different-from-a-Spanish-or-English-style-rum flavors have me hooked and coming back for more. Throw a bit of this in a daiquiri or mai tai, and you’ll never go back! And a classic Ti’ Punch was delicious, too. Highly recommend. -
Auchentoshan Three Wood
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 30, 2022 (edited May 16, 2022)Burnt sugar and toffee with dried fruit, date on the nose. Sweet, sweet nectar, but not cloying; it’s cut through by berries and a nice oak spice. Delicious when you want something sweet for dessert.
