High West Campfire (Discontinued)
Blended American Whiskey — (bottled in Utah), Multiple Countries
Reviewed April 27, 2019Good unique offering. Blending isn’t really what a thought. Rather then the three whiskeys coming together it’s more 1,2,3. Still worth a try if you like a smokey scotch and spicy bourbon. The tasting notes are spot on I just wish it was a little more harmonious. -
Westland American Oak American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Washington , USA
Reviewed February 17, 2019Share with friends, just a good whiskey. This is the only none scotch in my cabinet but when friends are around this is the first to come out. -
Big presence but not to be mistaken for over powering. Certainly comparable to Lagavulin16 but at least $20 cheaper at my store. Alluring camp fire smoke, the kind at the end of the night when it’s down to ambers. A previous reviewer said “tastes like your sweatshirt the day after a camp fire” and I can’t put it better myself.

I’ve enjoyed the 14 and my wife surprised me with a bottle of 18. Excellent, excellent drink. Very much the same character as the 14 but just matured and I know that sounds obvious but it’s true. Mouth feel is just oily enough that it hangs around, peat and smoke are there just enough to keep me satisfied but not over powering. Nicely balanced, more so then the 14. I like young bottles of some distilleries but here the extra time just works, just a supremely satisfying pour. It’s a bit pricey and not common to come by so I’ll probably keep this as a Sunday choice.

Shackleton Blended Malt
Blended Malt — highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 30, 2019 (edited October 25, 2019)Bought this for the story, grew up hearing it from my Dad. It’s a clean drinking blend, easy and tasty, pour neat. A previous taster mentioned it get better once the bottle is opened and I certainly agree. Nose is bananas but doesn’t carry on to the taste. To me it’s almost an easier JW Black. When none scotch friends visit this is what I serve. It may have not have blown me away but it’s a solid buy and a great bottle for conversation. I think I’m on my third bottle now and the consistency is appreciated. I’ll be keeping one on the shelf.
