The most “old school classic” taste I’ve tried yet, excellent. Initial nose was a bit confusing but a few sips in ands all good. Strongs flavors but all impressively balanced. I picked up a bottle since it’s so commonly compared to and now I see why. If you are into the Islay varieties give it a go. Definitely a bottle to keep around.

Talisker 10 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed January 13, 2019 (edited January 14, 2019)Very good, maritime appeal. I held off buying this as prices seemed to high $72. My usual Bowmore12 seemed a better buy. Eventually came across a better price, $39 this is a steal! Initially I was unsure but by the bottom of my first glass this goes on my good list. Some medicinal taste I’m not a fan of at initial opening but that seemed to air out, gets better down the bottle, something I’ve noticed with younger single malt. I really want to try the 18yr offering. -
Balvenie Single Barrel 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 2, 2019 (edited January 14, 2019)Took a second glass to appreciate it. My bottle seems a bit higher alcohol then advertised but sips reveal the great rich layers. Definitely a top quality offering. Drinks as classy as the label. -
