Four Roses Private Selection Single Barrel Barrel Strength Bourbon (OBSF)
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed May 18, 2023 (edited May 19, 2023)This is an outstanding poor. I am a big fan of Elijah Craig barrel proof Releases, however, this really will beat most of then in blind tastings And I have done them. Not the easiest find but if you find one at MSRP around 85 or $90 pick it up every time. This particular offering which is one of their 10 offerings is outstanding. The high rye and floral notes really come through But not overpowering at all. It is extremely well balanced, and drinks lower than it’s 120 proof point this could stand up in most any blind, and do extremely well. I really have no strong criticisms of this. The only minor tick may be the finish is not quite as long, but that’s just nitpicking at this point.85.0 USD per Bottle -
George T. Stagg Bourbon (Fall 2022)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 12, 2023 (edited May 18, 2023)139 proof and drinks like a mellow 110 proof. Its incredible. Nose is caramel and light vanilla. Stagg Jr does not hold a candle to this as it is 10 points lower proof but drinks hotter. This is about as good as a bourbon you can get. If you see it at a reasonable price then get it. Believe me, its all that. I was fortunate to get a 2 oz pour at $37 and was elated. I ended up have 2 of them. I have no criticism of this. Just what a bourbon should be. I would love to blind it just to make sure any bias was eliminated, however -
George Dickel 8 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed April 27, 2023 (edited April 28, 2023)This was a $30 bottle for an eight year bourbon which aligns with a lot of the other Dickel products where you get a lot of age for the price. The nose is actually very pleasant, sweet and very traditional from a bourbon standpoint. I don’t get that strong Dickel vitamin note that a lot of people do on this bottle. The taste translates well from the nose. Some really strong vanilla notes a bit of caramel just very traditional. Nothing outstanding, but certainly nothing that is offensive in anyway. Not a long finished, but I do get a little bit of nice hug in the chest, especially from a 90 proof. For $30 this is really one that you can’t go wrong with. Not one that I’m gonna rush to drink or go out and rebuy but an eight year old bourbon for 30 bucks that holds its own… not too shabby. 30.0 USD per Bottle -
Vey pleasant for a lower proof bourbon. Dont let the light color fool you, it drinks higher than its proof with spice and pepper on the backend. Really get a caramel apple on the nose. Does seem a bit thin so could be on the youthful side, however highly enjoyable for something on the lighter side. A bit steep in price so would like to see come down a bit.50.0 USD per Bottle

Kentucky Owl Takumi Edition Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 8, 2023 (edited June 8, 2023)So lets get this out of the way first. This is absolutely not worth $150. No way and no how. In todays market $60. The label is striking but you arent buying a label. Inside the bottle, i get a lot of pepper on the palette. Its not hot loke a bad whiskey would be but extremely peppery. Maybe a bit of an herbal note on the finish. I like it but wouldnt find myself buying another bottle. Would definitely be something a bit different on your shelf but better tasted with someone elses bottle. -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch B521
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 3, 2023 (edited May 14, 2023)As all ECBP this is enjoyable, but not my favorite. Actually a lower proof than it’s later offerings, this one is quite proofy even though it’s only 118. Still great but not one of my favorites. Nose is pleasant but the spice and proofiness was a bit more than I like.
