Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye
Canadian — Alberta, Canada
Reviewed June 20, 2023 (edited March 3, 2024)I have to admit that i went into this one a bit skeptical on if i would like it. I was quite pleasantly surprised. This is the 132 proof bottle ao not aure whizh batxh off the top of my head. The nose is extremely good. You know its a rye but its not that botanical nose that you get off some lesser expensive rise. This definitely has more of a apple note on it and even at 132 proof you do not get any ethanol on the nose which again was a very pleasant surprise. The taste is excellent as well with some light rye and those apple notes coming through. Very warming and you know you are in Hi proof territory but not in a bad way. You definitely get some warming in the chest, but there really is not a big burn so the Finish really compliments, the taste. At around 70 bucks this is a definite buy. The closest thing I can think that someone else may have had is barrel seagrass. They taste very similar, and would be an interesting side by side. I have had rare perfection, which I believe is also Canadian rye, and this is much better. -
This was disappointing. Its bot bad byvany aretxh, but really expected a lot more from a cask strength around $70. Comes off a bit thin and a tad grainy. It is a bit oeopery on the nose and some spice on the palette. A small amount of tobacco on the nose but nothing significant. Hopefully it opens up but so far its nothing i wouod buy again.

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch C922
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 15, 2023 (edited October 12, 2023)Nose is prototype ECBP however more peanut than normal so not as crazy about this one as some other releases. On the taste, a nice burst of spice. Bit of caramel and cherry, but not overwheming … pretty subtle Finish really lingers down theough the chest. No burn just a noce warming feeling. That spice lingers nocely too. Finish os the beat part of the pour. Overall, good but not my favorite of their releases. Will retry after opening up a bit. -
Fiddler Georgia Heartwood Perry's Single Barrel Pick
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed June 11, 2023 (edited July 31, 2023)This is a SWFL Total Wine pick. Very smoky and had a ham or cured meat note through the nose and taste. Excellent alternative to standard notes. A high proof offering but definitely does not drink at 120 proof. This was a single barrel so the standard may be different. Highly enjoyable as a sipper and different offering. -
Jim Beam Signature Craft Soft Red Wheat Bourbon 11 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 11, 2023Highly enjoyable. For an 11 year old it really isnt a oak pronounced pour. Very soft on the nose and taste … bit fruity and definitely not spicy. Very faint Beam profile … not proofy but definitely drinks a little heavier than the 90 proof. Bit of light cherry on the aftertaste but not in a medicinal way that some higher proof products can gove off. Good luck finding it these days. Disappointing it was discontinued as i would definitely biy again. -
Nose is very nice .. diffing deep can get a tea note whixh is always a great note for me. Taste is also very pleasant and would say its a strong 3.25 rating and could go to a 3.5. For a wheated puts out a fair amount of spice and really is a an easy 90 proofer. I do enjoy the standard Green River product more as it gives off that very nice raison note and juat and overall better 90 proof pour. Did this in a wheated blind and it blew away Weller SR so well worth a pickup.

Rabbit Hole Dareringer Straight Bourbon Finished in PX Sherry Casks
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 22, 2023I have gown to like this over time. Not overdone on the finish its a got plenty if spice on the palate which is definitely surprising for a wheated mashbill. Drinks proofier ( in a good way) than the stated proof you will definitely keep nosing this as lots of different tasting notes that come out including that subtle sherry finish . Pricey but well done.
