Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch No. 6
Single Malt — Cambeltown, Scotland
Reviewed April 22, 2023 (edited June 15, 2023)It’s hot at 57.4% its full-on. A few drops of water bring back that heat and mellow it just enough. There is a buttery and oaky funk that I identify as apricot. The peat is high and the smoke is medium. Overall a VERY premium scotch. -
Very disappointing. No smoke, no peat. Very hot pokey alcohol, but no peat no smoke. Lots of butter, caramel, marshmallow and rum. Quite disappointing actually - especially for the price. This is definitely an overpriced bottle. It’s nice enough but hardly a flag bearer for Islay. I have cut it with some water and it opened it up and significantly. But still not nearly as Smokey and Peaty as I’d like.95.0 CAD per Bottle

Lagavulin Offerman Edition Guinness Cask Finish
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed August 15, 2021 -
It’s a Smokey dram on the nose. But it’s all bark and no bite. I believe others have mentioned this. It’s relatively easy drinking - smooth and vanilla with oak. The smoke is only there as an illusion which is disheartening. The saline/iodine finish is not as pronounced as others have mentioned. I’m fact I couldn’t detect any at all. Still a relatively enjoyable scotch- but for the price there are FAR better selections.
