Lagavulin 2005 Distillers Edition (Bottled 2020)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed November 26, 2021I bought the 2006-2021 edition, but that one doesn't have a separate entry on distiller yet. It's great! A very nice smokeyness that lingers long after tasting, but is balanced by sweetness. Smooth. Warming.90.0 EUR per Bottle -
Very nice smell and taste. Fruity and smokey and the marketing is on point as usual with Highland Park. I actually prefer this one a bit more than HP 12 year viking pride. Compared to each other both are fruity and smokey, but for me the 12 came across more lemony and Dragon Legend more as cooked dark fruit. I also feel that the 12 is a bit rough around the edges which the Dragon Legend seems to camouflage with the extra smoke. (That being said, it's not that smokey compared to some other whiskys.)46.5 EUR per Bottle

Tasted the classic brown label in a bar and decided to add a bottle to my collection (with the new painting label). Since it has been a while since that first tasting I can't say for sure if there is a real difference with the new recipe. It tasted good both times, but I do feel like that first taste packed more baconflavours, which I liked. Nice smoked meat/bacon in the nose and mouth. The smoke also lingers nicely after a sip.47.5 EUR per Bottle

Smells the best out of the Ardbegs I tasted (10 years, wee beastie, an oa, corryvrekkan). A great, sweet smell. The taste is good too. Sweet, smokey, caramel,... It does pack quite a punch with the alcoholburn which can distract from the flavours in the beginning. Between Ardbegs it's hard to choose between this one and Corryvrekkan. I feel like Uigeadail bursts through the smoke with flavours like caramel, whereas in Corryvrekkan more of a fruity flavour comes through. Overall I do prefer certain Lagavulins though.70.0 EUR per Bottle

Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 2, 2021 (edited October 22, 2021)Better on the rocks for me, but not my favourite. Personally don't taste much depth flavourwise. From Four Roses I prefer the single barrel.35.0 EUR per Bottle
