This New Zealand gin is the brain child of Scapegrace founders Mark Neal and Daniel McLaughlan. It is made with standard gin botanicals as well as a combination of local sweet potato, aronia berries, pineapple and saffron, and butterfly pea flower—the component that adds the dark color when mixed with these other ingredients and heated to the right temperature—sourced from Southeast Asia. It is bottled at 41.

In general, this category of gin, while it does contain juniper, places less of an emphasis on this botanical. Other botanicals not classically used in London Dry gins are often utilized and often highlight botanicals grown in the region the gin is produced. Tasting Notes
"The nose is rather tooty-fruity, with notes of blueberry, blackberry, currant, citrus, and oh yeah, there it is, a hint of juniper. The palate takes on earthier tones, florals and tannins, with black tea, grapefruit and orange zest, savory spices, thyme and a hint of juniper. It finishes very clean and fruity, but perhaps too fruity for standard dry gin cocktails - this one seems more poised for gin and tonic or shaken serves with citrus. "
