Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 7, 2019 (edited October 27, 2019)On the nose, there is heavy caramel, honey, green apple, oak, cherry, and floral notes. There are lighter notes of molasses, banana bread, corn, butter, and the typical shiny nail polish remover/ Ethanol note that comes and goes on every nosing. The taste does have less complexity compared to the nose, where the molasses, caramel-honey, oak, and fruit notes are the things that stand strong more than the other things listed. It makes the taste much less rich than I was expecting based on the nose.22.99 USD per Bottle -
On the nose, I get a corn-y bite, caramel, vanilla, a cinnamon/ baking spices sharpness and a lighter amount of cherry and banana. On the taste, I still get more of that same corn note but with stronger caramel, vanilla, oak, and baking spices on the palate. The fruity flavors are weaker on the taste than the nose for me. As a reference, I have a slight preference for Evan Williams 1783 even though it is lower proof and a much larger preference for Wild Turkey 101 which I believe is similar but stronger underlying flavors, more complexity, and less corn/ malty notes.17.49 USD per Bottle

Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt
Blended Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed June 19, 2019 (edited October 27, 2019)This is a fantastic blended Speyside. On the nose, I get green apple, pear, cream, orange peel, honey, and a bread note (Similar to a very lightly toasted piece of white bread or maybe some sort of lightly toasted buttered biscuit.). Mid-palate has more honey, cream, pear and bread notes with much lighter tastes of cinnamon and herbs. The finish is longer than most $30 scotches. The finish is light on lingering fruit notes with stronger spice notes. I could drink this for hours. It is such a good value and a great look into common Speyside flavors.31.99 USD per Bottle -
Glenfiddich 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed June 11, 2019 (edited October 27, 2019)The nose is heavy on apple, pear, and sour citrus (like a sour orange) followed by tamer notes of vanilla, butterscotch, oak wood, and cream. The sour notes give the scent a "juicy" smell (like an apple juice or orange juice). Also has a small caramel sweetness. The taste has a stronger spice than the nose. The taste still has strong apple/pear fruitiness with a vanilla cinnamon cream added in. Very light oatmeal taste and very light oak wood on taste.35.67 USD per Bottle -
Great bourbon and by far one of the best for the price. Heavy caramel and butterscotch on the nose. Lighter nosing notes of vanilla, citrus, floral, honey, and oak. Vanilla and oak are stronger on the palate than on the nose. Caramel is still strong on the palate. Peppery/ rye notes come through stronger the longer it sits in mouth/ the longer you drink it.24.72 USD per Bottle
