On the nose, Woodford shines through a very generic alcohol shine with a dark cherry undertone with light notes of vanilla, baking spices, orange zest, and an oak bitter ding. Peaking through occasionally is a ripe banana note, a toasty marshmallow note, and a mild bubblegum sweetness. The taste balances out the flavors so that nothing spikes out too hard other than the bourbon cherry note with a light spice. For me, the bourbon is not worth the value (I would just grab one of the cheaper Old Forester offerings for a similar profile) but I find myself going back to the 375 ml to make myself and my friends happy when sharing a glass before some beers.40.0 USD per Bottle

The nose lets the corn jump out of the glass with an underlayer of peanuts and peanut shells. Very light vanilla and caramel. There is a weird astringency that is sour and unpleasant until you let the bottle open up. The taste is a simple sweetness with the Jim Beam peanut butter. The sour note fades the more you drink through the bottle and is eventually replaced with a more pronounced peanut butter caramel candy flavor. The finish is short and bitey with the youth notes holding out until the end. This feels close to good in some ways but the faults leave me wanting and reaching for other bottles. I am not going to pick up another.22.99 USD per Bottle

On the nose, I get strong notes of luxardo cherry syrup, banana, cinnamon, clove and oak with a light orange zest and very light corn behind these stronger notes. On the front and mid-palate there is a wave of banana and cherry fruitiness that plays with a meaty oak note. On the finish the oak and clove spice pushes through after the fruity wave on the front palate. The orange and grain notes disappear on the palate compared to the nose. This is a fun bourbon if you enjoy a bunch of fruitiness on the front end and do not mind a spicy finish.24.95 USD per Bottle

Old Forester Classic 86 Proof
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 1, 2020 (edited August 17, 2020)On the nose I get a classic vanilla with a strong fruitiness that combines a banana laffy taffy with bourbon cherry. Behind this are lighter notes of white sugar, honey, green apple, and a thin oak thread that leads you to think it would have a very light spice. The taste reminds me of a banana split because of the mix of cherry, banana, and vanilla (which almost reminds me of vanilla ice cream. This is mixed with a light oak spice layer and apple note. The finish is thin and light leaving behind oak spice. This is a very nice bourbon that is easy to sip on and has nice fruit notes if you ever need to have a bourbon for a fruity cocktail. The thinness and banana note means for me that it is only a "once in while" bourbon for when I am looking for something fruity and effortless.21.95 USD per Bottle -
Young craft Florida fun! I don't know if I love the whiskey or not but it is so much fun to try whiskey from different places. Growing up in central Florida this whiskey holds a special place in my heart and the empty bottle is what I use as my infinity bottle. The nose is four distinct notes: corn grain dustiness, a corn sugary sweetness, a thin oak spice, and an oyster cracker breadiness. The taste is all corn sweetness with that oyster cracker breadiness and a thin oak spice finish. It is light and delicate for enjoying a glass once in a while. The whiskey gets better as it sits in the bottle or opens up in the glass.32.99 USD per Bottle

Knob Creek 9 Year Single Barrel Reserve
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 25, 2020 (edited May 26, 2020)Drinking an original non-store pick. On the nose, I get strong notes of vanilla, caramel, and oak char with lighter floral notes, maraschino cherry, red apple, roasted peanuts, brown sugar, and maple syrup. The taste doesn't match the nose completely and in comparison presents a much stronger nuttiness, and tobacco note. The brown sugar/ maple syrup note evolves into a unison dense molasses note. The lighter fruit notes on the nose get buried for the darker sweet notes on the taste. The finish is long, somewhat dry, and barrel forward with baking spice on the back end. Really enjoy this bourbon but it is one that you have to be in the mood for.39.99 USD per Bottle -
This is a fun, sweet bourbon to have on hand. The nose is a honey sweetness with spicy vanilla, maraschino cherry, orange zest, and a wheat breadiness that especially shows up in blind tasting flights. If you find the wheat bread note you can instantly pick it out. On the taste, there is an apple note that plays well with the strong honey and round grain notes. The finish is where the oak char and a peanut-shell nuttiness comes through.22.0 USD per Bottle

Rúa American Single Malt
American Single Malt — North Carolina, USA
Reviewed May 4, 2020 (edited October 24, 2021)I want to start by saying that this is an extremely bias 5/5 score. I love the marketing, the distillery, the bottle shape, the color of the whiskey. I love everything about it not involved with the actual liquid inside. But since this is a whiskey review page, and I really like the taste as well, I will review the liquid. The nose is on the younger side, with a strong malt sourness that is surrounded by gentle, sweeter, more complex notes. The nose presents as creamy vanilla with an overarching sweetness that lingers between caramel and granulated sugar. Hidden underneath is a pecan nuttiness. The taste adds a nice toastiness and spice that isn't on the nose but takes away some of the vanilla. The finish adds in the oak, lingering sweetness, and a cocoa powder dryness (that reminds me of a four roses product if that helps anyone).35.0 USD per Bottle -
Rebel Yell Kentucky Straight Bourbon 100 Proof
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 15, 2020 (edited April 19, 2021)On the nose, there is a lot of cinnamon, vanilla, roasted peanut, cherry, sweet corn and a wheat breadiness with lighter notes of oak, lemon zest, brown sugar, and a floral note. On the taste, the breadiness note comes off as cornbread with a cinnamon sugar spread. Through all of this, it is really hard to ignore the roasted peanut note, which is accompanied by a lighter barrel char note on the finish. It is really fun to find such a fun bourbon at such a low price point. This is one of the best values in bourbon, as long as you enjoy a strong nuttiness in your bourbon.18.99 USD per Bottle -
On the nose, there is a roadhouse peanut that surrounds sharp ethanol, light vanillas, a sweet caramel, candy corn, corn dust, and oak tannins. The taste has those tannins and dusty corn with the peanut butter, vanilla, and sour oakiness. This is a pretty good whiskey but there are a lot of 100 proof offerings on the market and compared to many other bourbons and ryes at the proof I find this one to be lacking. This lacks fruit notes and a complex sweetness that you can find in many other 100 proof offerings in the same price range.29.99 USD per Bottle
