I'm really happy that this was my first ever bottle of single malt. Full-bodied with strong fruit and floral notes both in nose and taste. I get orange and apples, oak, then a mild burn that fades into caramel and vanilla for a medium finish. Extremely satisfying for a beginner like me. No wonder this is the most popular scotch in Scotland!

For a smoky blended scotch, this is a better (cheaper!) choice over JW Black. Smooth, full-bodied and cheap. There's no reason not to try this!

You really get the smoke with every sip, which dances with satisfying notes of spice and vanilla-caramel.

If you like JW and expecting smoke, then you're better off getting a JW Double Black instead. This is more a standard blended scotch-- vanilla, caramel that gives way to a spicy, mild burn. There's smoke in there, but it's just an afterthought.

Simple, sweet and gets the job done. For a few more bucks though, I'd get Maker's Mark instead.

Super smooth and fruity, with hints of oak and spice. Full-bodied, and pleasant from nose to finish.
