BSB 103 Brown Sugar Bourbon (Discontinued)
Flavored Whiskey — USA
Reviewed January 2, 2019 (edited March 4, 2021)Nice in a cup of coffee or from a flask at the top of the mountain. But I'd highly advise against drinking neat in your living room. It tastes more like sugar than bourbon. Honestly, if they had a big cute teddy bear on the label the FDA would come guns blazing and charge them with selling to minors. In fact, your 14 year old daughter is probably already drinking this. -
The way the smoke rises off the end of this thing is very satisfying but I'm getting ahead of myself. The nose is caramel and toffee. Thank god it's not as sweet as it smells. It tastes like a green apple got lit and hooked up with some honey nut oats. This is a nice blend though you could just drink Johnnie Walker Black for half the cost. Advise a side by side tasting.

Balvenie Doublewood 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 19, 2018 (edited December 30, 2018)The scotch so nice they barreled it twice. I mostly taste the oak barrel and not much of the wine barrel it spends its later years at. That said, it's a pleasant surprise. I didn't realize how ubiquitous it was (find it at your local Costco) until after drinking. Would you bring it along in a search for approval from your scotch quaffing peers? Nah. Would you bring it to your in-laws and drink it on the couch while they do the dishes. Yeah, definitely. -
