Smokey bog fires on the sea coast is what my nose picks up. With a lingering hint of sweet heather at the end of the scent. Rich smooth honey on the first sip with the smoke and peat traveling leisurely down my palate. Rich and moneyed like fine leather goods. Treat yourself to this excellent scotch and please pair with lots of meat. Bacon wrapped everything!!!!64.0 USD per BottleLoa Bar

Aerstone Land Cask 10 Year
Single Malt — Scotland
Reviewed September 25, 2021 (edited April 8, 2024)Sweet and smoky nose. Peat and heather and grain. Then..BAM! The rubber meets road quite literally. Tractor tire and tar on the front part of my palate and then another sweet finish. -
WhistlePig 6 Year PiggyBack Rye
Rye — (bottled in) Vermont, Canada
Reviewed August 21, 2019 (edited February 11, 2020)You know I love rye. 100% rye is notoriously hard to work with. The nose has all that spice I am looking for. The taste is a little sweet, surprising since it’s only 6 years old. -
Tyrconnell 16 Year Single Malt
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed August 21, 2019 (edited October 27, 2019)I tend to like my whiskey like I like my men; a little on the younger side. But the 16 years on this Irish single malt is elegant and adult. Finished in my beloved oloroso and PX barrels, I love the complex nose full of gingerbread and sun baked grain. I love the taste warm Irish sunshine. The taste brings me back to summer days in Phoenix Park.
