Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed March 30, 2021 (edited February 16, 2024)First tasted 2017-09-03. I got hold of a 100ml bottle on 3/30/2021 for $4 so I decided to review it again. Color: 5. Darker gold with a hint of brown, like weak iced tea. Body: 5. A little bit thin Aroma: 6. Fruit, Floral. Not very strong but smooth and easy Flavor: 6. Above Average. Light Fruit. Mellow, not very complex. Smooth and easy to drink. Reminiscent of Johnnie Walker Red Label. Opinion: 6. Fairly enjoyable but not too exciting. At 40% it's smooth and easy to drink. (I'm pretty sure that the 2017 version I originally tasted was 43% ABV. Bottle verdict: Don't buy, because it is not interesting enough -
Rock Oyster Blended Malt
Blended Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed August 18, 2020 (edited February 16, 2024)Color- Very light yellow, like a very light hard cider or a light white wine Ar- Light citrus. I can imagine some brine, but I'm not sure if that's really what I smell, or what I expect to smell. F- It really does taste savory and salty. It is vaguely similar to the ocean water in fresh oyster when you eat it right from the shell. The ABV is slightly on the high side, so it is rather hot. Finish- a bit of peat After- Lasts for a while, but there are notes that I'm not keen on. Something bitter, savory. Maybe I like sweeter notes, like sherry? Opinion- Nice enough, but not that exciting. It does achieve the intended maritime oyster motif. Bottle verdict: I'm on the fence, but not enjoying it enough to justify a whole botte. One mini is enough to get the idea
