Westland Peated American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Washington, USA

Peppery, smoky, beachy classic ardbeg BUT it has a subtle and extremely pleasant fruit note. Ardbeg always amazes me at their ability to touch opposite ends of the flavor spectrums. It first hits with heavy classic smoky islay and then quickly but deftly transitions to tropical and orchard fruits. Lovely master distiller expertise. Finish takes you away to an ashy, fruity wonderland.

Springbank 11 Year Local Barley
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed October 1, 2023 (edited October 10, 2023)Yep, thatll do it. Excellent whiskey. Briny, malt, hint of smoke, peat, grassiness, orchard fruits, spicy finish, complexity. Roller coaster. Campbeltown funk. Lovely pour that makes you wonder how many centuries of craft it takes to produce something like this. -
Heaven Hill 20 Year Heritage Collection Kentucky Straight Corn Whiskey (Spring 2023)
Corn — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 1, 2023Nice nose and palate, finish leaves something to be desired -
Unique, fruity, tart, sour almost?, watery. Love the finish and nose, palate isnt for me but perhaps thats due to the youngness of the whiskey. Hope to make something this good one day and wish these folks the best. Also, definitely get that watermelon taste. Its the fruit/tart taste. Never had that before - super cool.

Leopold Bros. 5 Year Bottled in Bond Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Colorado, USA
Reviewed September 24, 2023Grass, malted grains, bread, yeast. Remind me of the westland asm. Just raw and wonderful. Not just boring caramel, vanilla, oak one dimensional bourbon notes. Its focused on the mashbill and not just the barrel like most american whiskeys. Lovely. -
Barrell Bourbon Cask Finish Series: Amburana (Release 001)

Reviewed September 22, 2023WTF??? Cinnamon, rose, and clove. Never had a whiskey like this before. Shows how much room for experimentation there still is with wood out there.
