Elijah Craig Single Barrel Barrel Proof Bourbon (Private Label)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 29, 2022 (edited February 8, 2023)Nose: sour corn mash, ethanol, cherry, burnt caramel, dried fruit Palate: honey, allspice, molasses, pepper Finish: rich, complex, leathery, cinnamon, but sweetness holds throughout, maybe some burnt orange peel 10 year, 121.5 proof, Fareway meat and grocery uncut Watching football with Riley and Pops after a quick workout in the garage, before Tuttles wedding in Pella80.0 USD per Bottle -
Nose: vanilla, cola, bakery (sweet bread), little ethanol, hint of licorice, cherry candy Palate: sweet woody bourbon, a bit shorter than I’d like, I get the wheat especially on the back, also some spice like black pepper Finish: dry, spicy finish, peppery, ethanol, almost like a sour chemically flavor that isn’t my favorite Pretty good for a mixer, wouldn’t be my first choice to sip for taste. The front is pretty good, sweet and wheaty, but the hot chemical finish kind of ruins in it my opinion

Larceny Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 7, 2022 (edited October 7, 2022)Nose: raisin, cherry, wheat, vanilla/almond extract, cinnamon roll? Palate: fruit, woody, vanilla, sweet, not too complex Finish: wheat, spicy, dry grassy, sugar Opened this in front of a bonfire, and right after opening it was pretty harsh, almost gave me barrel proof vibes… spicy and dry, didn’t get the fruit notes I get now a week later. Maybe it was the dry air from the fire, but maybe it just needs some air before it really opens up into the sweet cherry vanilla bomb that the rest of the reviews boast. Actually enjoyed both times (for different reasons!) especially for the price. This was my first blind attempt at a Larceny whiskey, will definitely check out the rest that the brand has to offer27.0 USD per Bottle -
Nose: not much, ethanol, maybe a bit of fruit and woody leather Palate: lots of oak, some brown sugar and smoke, almost a grassy easiness Finish: very easy, about what I expected from the nose, finishes sweet and nice Thought I was maybe getting an awesome deal with something comparable to the Woodford double oaked, but really just an easy, smooth bourbon with not a whole lot of richness and flavor. Actually quite nice by itself, but not something that is going to impress a seasoned taster18.0 USD per Bottle
