Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 9, 2021 (edited January 29, 2021)The best way I can describe this is Buffalo Trace with spice. A definite step up from 4R small batch. This hits very good notes for me but 4R is a step below Brown Forman brands when it comes to my tastes. I’ll definitely keep this bottle around. For $10- $15 more getting OF 1920 or Woodford Reserve Double Oaked is the obvious choice for me. And since I think this tastes like a spicy Buffalo Trace, I can save $15 by just buying Buffalo Trace. -
Jim Beam Black Label Double Aged 8 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 1, 2021 (edited May 11, 2021)Doesn’t do anything good enough to want to drink. Doesn’t have anything terrible enough about to dump down the drain. It just kind of exists in an area where I would neither like nor hate whiskey if this was as good as it gets. -
On the nose I get a lot of dark fruit with obvious wood and peppery scent. The palate follows the nose. Finish is shorter than expected given the intensity of the nose and palate. This is a drink that imo, benefits from a small amount of ice. Far too intense to have more than two fingers in one sitting. Not a drink for those looking to get drunk. This is a drink to slowly contemplate and a resounding success.64.99 USD per Bottle

Booker's Bourbon Batch 2020-03 "Pigskin Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 25, 2020 (edited January 30, 2021)Rested for 10 minutes then 2 cubes Ice added, afterwards. Nose is light and sweet. Palate is sweet and Peanut heavy. Finish is moderate with long peanut lingering. Good Kentucky hug lasting almost 1 minute during first few sips. Well done. Peanut flavored whiskey is not my taste. The quality is evident, however. This is high end bourbon. -
High West A Midwinter Night's Dram Act 8 (All Scenes)
Rye — (bottled in) Utah, USA
Reviewed December 24, 2020 (edited July 1, 2022)Perfectly balanced between rye spice and dark fruits. Not easy drinking unless you add water or ice but do not do that. Balance disappears and you just get smooth sweetness. The point of this whiskey is the rye spice playing off of the port sweetness. I couldn’t ask for more in this whiskey. For what it is trying to do it hits perfection.159.99 USD per Bottle
