High West A Midwinter Night's Dram Act 8 (All Scenes)
Rye — (bottled in) Utah, USA
Reviewed December 24, 2020 (edited July 1, 2022)Perfectly balanced between rye spice and dark fruits. Not easy drinking unless you add water or ice but do not do that. Balance disappears and you just get smooth sweetness. The point of this whiskey is the rye spice playing off of the port sweetness. I couldn’t ask for more in this whiskey. For what it is trying to do it hits perfection.159.99 USD per Bottle -
Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 6, 2020 (edited December 21, 2020)Big upgrade from Glenlivet 12 as the rum barrel sweetness offsets some of the less pleasant flavors found in the 12. -

Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition
Blended — Ireland
Reviewed December 6, 2020 (edited December 25, 2020)Absolutely fantastic. Jameson appears to be a perfect choice given its soft flavors to be used to impart flavor upon. Anyone who loves both whiskey and dark beer would be in heaven. Would absolutely not be an everyday drinker for me due to its very unique profile but it’s a surefire choice to be stocked in my cabinet. -
If you’re in the mood for a soft, lightly sweet/tart, smooth (when on the rocks) and very easy drinking whiskey, it would be hard to beat this for the price. Not a lot of nose or finish but that’s clearly not what Jameson is going for. Very little complexity or deep flavor but it’s hard to argue with the extremely easy drink ability of this whiskey.

Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year Bourbon (107 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 22, 2020 (edited December 4, 2020)Purchased a bottle for my father secondary. He has wanted one for years. Delicious fruit sweetness. Very smooth but not as smooth as Blantons however it has far better flavor on the finish. Finish lingers considering proof. Not the best bourbon I’ve ever had but definitely in the top 10%. Secondary prices are absurd. This bottle is realistically worth maybe $80. It is a pleasure to drink when not considering price paid.499.0 USD per Bottle
