Coopers' Craft Barrel Reserve 100 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 12, 2025 (edited November 13, 2025)Nose: Warm and inviting — toasted pecans lead the way, layered over sweet potato pie and well-seasoned oak. There’s a soft sweetness underneath that recalls brown sugar and a touch of vanilla cream. Palate: Nutty and full-bodied, with roasted pecans, chocolate, cinnamon, and firm oak tannins. The flavors feel rounded and toasty, showing just enough spice to balance the sweetness. Finish: Dandy and short, but pleasantly so — a flash of cocoa and oak gives way to a faint note of ripe banana, like the aftertaste of banana bread still warm from the oven. It’s a subtle twist that leaves a smooth, creamy impression. Overall: A well-crafted, toasty bourbon with a signature Brown-Forman nuttiness. The addition of banana on the finish adds a gentle echo of the distillery’s hallmark fruit character, making this a warm, approachable pour with quiet depth. -
Nose: Opens with an inviting barrel spice, layered over a backdrop of briny coastal sea air. The maritime influence mingles beautifully with the warmth of seasoned oak. Palate: Soft and silky on entry, carrying a gentle wave of peat that is light yet distinct. Black pepper spice builds across the tongue, balanced by a subtle smokiness that enhances rather than overpowers. Finish: Warm and lingering, with a medium-to-long fade that highlights a pleasant cinnamon note, leaving a cozy, spiced afterglow.

This one is full of wonderful surprises! The whisky pours light in color, which was the first unexpected detail considering its punchy strength. Nose: At first sniff, I was caught off guard—it almost leans toward mezcal, with a smoky, earthy note that’s both intriguing and inviting. Palate: The journey is dynamic. It starts soft, opening with briny peat, before the high proof really makes itself known, delivering a lively tingle across the palate. As it settles, waves of peat return, balanced and not overwhelming, before gradually giving way. Finish: Medium in length, fading with a pleasant warmth and a lingering wisp of smoke. Overall: A light-looking dram that packs serious character. Mezcal-like on the nose, vibrant and briny on the tongue, and a finish that leaves you smiling.
